Dorothy R. Weitzel (nee-Hagan) of Holland, PA died peacefully on Wednesday March 21, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was 75 years old.
Dorothy was born Oct. 3, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA. daughter of the late Henry M. Hagan and the late Dorothy Hagan (nee- Lenahan).
Dorothy is the beloved wife of 54 years, to James J. Weitzel. She is also survived by her loving children; Dorothy A. Rodgers and her husband Bill of Holland, Joseph E. Weitzel of Bensalem, Helen M. Bolton and her husband Bill of Wesley Chapel, FL, Catherine M. Rhoads and her husband Richard of Huntingdon Valley, Rosemary Peters and her husband Dean of Eagleville, Mary Claire Connelly and her husband Jeff of Gainsville, FL, Theresa I. Gianos and her husband Steve of Southampton and Bernadette DeCaro and her husband Chris of Bristol. In addition to her children, she is survived by 35 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Sister of Joseph Hagan, Margaret Conners, and Sarah-jane Nedl.
Born in Philadelphia, she attended Maternity BVM grade school and St. Huberts High School graduating in 1954. Dorothy met and married Jim after his return from military service in 1957. She taught early religious education for many years at St. Albert the Great Church and was an original associate of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth.
Dorothy was always there for her family and friends, she made the holidays exceptional and will be sorely missed by everyone who has come to know and love her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday Evening, March 26 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954 and to her Funeral Mass 10:00 am Tuesday, March 27 at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd. Holland, PA 18966.
Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Sisters of The Holy Family of Nazareth c/o Mt. Nazareth 2755 Holme Ave. Phila., PA 19152
