Sophie Polizzi of Levittown passed away peacefully Friday, March 23, 2012 surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. She was 95 years young.

Sophie was the beloved wife of the late John J. Polizzi.

Born in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Filomena D’Amore Giangiordano.

Sophie was a former resident of Bensalem before moving to Levittown in 2010. She had worked as a seamstress in Philadelphia for many years with Devon Apparel Group. At 85 years of age, Sophie re-entered the work force as a faithful volunteer in the Pharmacy Department at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. She remained an active volunteer until the time of her death. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her 2 beloved grandsons. Favorite activities were celebratory dinners with family, going on casino trips and baking cookies. She will always be remembered for her fabulous pizzelles.

Sophie is survived by her dearest daughter, Linda C. Pezzicara and her husband Thomas of Holland and her two cherished grandsons, Matthew and Marc “Marco”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday, March 28 from 8:30am to 10:00am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro and to her Funeral Mass 11:00am at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown.

Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Cheltenham.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mary Medical Center, 1201 Langhorne-Newtown Rd., Langhorne, PA 19047, C/O Volunteer Services.
