Jayne Buckley Cornell, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Thetford, Vermont on March 27, 2012 at the age of 87.

She was the beloved wife of the late James Bennett “Ben” Cornell.

Born in Philadelphia, Jayne was the only daughter of the late Mae Egly Buckley and John Stewart Buckley.

Jayne graduated from Richboro High School where she met the love of her life, Ben Cornell and formed the friendship that would last a lifetime.

Upon his graduation, Ben joined the U.S. Marines and when he returned from the Pacific Islands his girl was waiting for him. They were married in Richboro, on October 27 1945, and then spent their honeymoon traveling across the USA to be discharged in Santa Barbara, Ca.

Ben and Jayne returned to Northampton Township, where Ben started his business, “J.B. Cornell, Contractor and Builder ". The business thrived, building custom homes throughout the burgeoning Bucks County countryside and the slogan, “Cornell Built, Better Built” fit.

Daughters Christine and Bonnie Lee were born in 1947 and 1951 and soon Jayne began teaching First Day School at Middletown Friends Meeting, she joined the PTA, and was an active Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed horseback riding at the Cornell farmstead; gardening and "putting up" the explosion of vegetables from Ben's garden .There were always injured critters being nursed back to health, or a stray dog needing a home. A bridge and dinner group formed, and soon became a monthly event. Jayne was a true homemaker, and truly enjoyed decorating and celebrating every occasion.

When Ben retired, they relocated to the golf and lake community of Eastman, in Grantham, NH to be closer to New England their daughters and beloved grandchildren. While Ben played golf, Jayne enjoyed the solace of her garden , reading , quilting and doll making for granddaughters, and the joy of time with her beloved pets or the occasional wild animal, such as the bear who wandered into the garden to poach on their many bird feeders! She participated in and was President of both her Eastman Bridge and Investment Clubs while enjoying new friendships.Together, they enjoyed Nordic skiing at Eastman and downhill skiing at nearby Mt. Sunapee.

Jayne and Ben traveled to Scotland, Alaska and Hawaii and throughout the Western US as well as their yearly (golf) venture to Myrtle Beach with dear friends.
After the loss of Ben, Jayne moved to Lebanon, NH, with Kayla, her dog and Frisky, her cat, where she remained until she moved to Bonnie’s home in Thetford, Vermont, where she remained until her death.

Jayne was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, affectionately known as “Big Ben”. She leaves her daughters Christine Cornell Krumperman and her husband LeRoy W. Krumperman (Skeeter), of South Glastonbury, Ct., and Ludlow, Vt. and Bonnie Lee Cornell of Thetford, Vermont. She was adored by her five grandchildren; Todd Cornell Krumperman and his wife Christine Harris, of Marshfield, Vt., Jill Krumperman Tucker and her husband Jake Michael Tucker of Yarmouth, Me. , Katelyn Leigh Krumperman of Lincoln, NH., John F. Malcolm ,of Burlington Vt ., Elissa F. Malcolm, of Lyme, NH. Her great-grandchildren; Nora Jayne and Levi Rain Krumperman and Jed Samuel Tucker whom brought her great joy. Also surviving are her cousins Joan Neuman, Huntington, NY and June Lorbecki , Stratford, NJ her niece Clair Cornell Deist, nephew Wayne Cornell. She leaves a very special cat, Frisky. The family sends special thanks to Bayada Hospice.

Jayne was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in -law, grandmother friend and a true lady who will be missed greatly.

In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Upper Valley Humane Society in Enfield, NH, Ct. Audubon Society of Glastonbury, Glastonbury, Ct. or the Bucks County S.P.C.A., New Hope , PA.

A private memorial service for close friends and family will held in New Hampshire, a graveside service will take place at Union Cemetery in Richboro at the convenience of the family.
