Shirley Marad Gayda, of Washington Crossing, formerly of Northeast Philadelphia died peacefully on Good Friday, April 6, 2012, at Chandler Hall Hospice, with her loving family at her bedside. She was 84.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Fannie Marad and beloved wife of 46 years to the late Daniel Gayda.

Shirley was a resident of Traditions in Washington Crossing for the past 7 years having formerly lived in St. Jerome’s Parish. She worked at Leary’s book store as a bookkeeper before raising her children. Shirley was a talented seamstress, organic gardener and artist. She was a fabulous dancer who appreciated every genre of music.

Shirley was a patron of the arts, including theater, dance, music and a talented painter who took art classes at the Philadelphia Community College and Holy Family University. Shirley had the pleasure during her lifetime to travel the six continents and take in much of the history of the world.

She will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted family and friends.

Shirley is survived by her caring children; Anne G. McIntosh and her husband William, Ellen M. Gayda, and Michael D. Gayda and his wife Patricia, her brother Harold Marad and his wife Charlene, and her 7 very special grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Shirley’s family will receive condolences on Tuesday evening April 10, from 6:00pm until a time of Sharing at 7:30pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro. On Wednesday at 10:55 am at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown for Words of Remembrance prior to her Funeral Mass at11:00am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
