Henry Haacke

November 4th, 2011

Henry W. Haacke, Jr., of Holland, PA, died on Friday, November 4, 2011, at Twining Village Health Care. He was 91.
He was the beloved husband of 36 years to Teresa Jesser Haacke, and the late Dorothy Haacke who died in 1972.
Born in New York, he was the son of the late Henry W. Haacke Sr. and Anna Breden Haacke and brother of the late Jane Meyer.
Henry served in the United States Army, Artillery Division, during the Second World War.
In addition to his loving wife, Henry survived by his children, Robert Haacke and his wife Ruth Lee "Mike" of Spring Hill, FL, Carol Levash of Churchville, and Linda Barratt and her husband Thomas of New Hope. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, John Haacke, Donna Haacke Mallon, Janet Haacke Ruggiero, Thomas Barratt IV, Michael D. Barratt, Kelly Loden Ingertson, Michael Whelan, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services and Interment will be held privately at Newtown Cemetery, Washington and Elm Avenue, Newtown, PA 18940.

Joh Tierney

November 4th, 2011

John T. Tierney, of Churchville, PA died on Friday, November 4, 2011. He was 57.
He was the beloved husband of 30 years to Joan Oursler Tierney.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Mary Jane Driscoll Tierney of Churchville and the late John Tierney.
John grew up in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia, and attended Cardinal Dougherty High School before moving to Churchville in 1969 and graduating from Council Rock. He and his brother owned and operated Tierney Auto Sales in Warminster for over 25 years. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who will be deeply missed.
In addition to his loving wife and mother, he is survived by his children John, Robert, and Patricia Tierney all of Churchville, his brother Michael Tierney and his wife Kathleen of Southampton, and his sister Patricia Marshall and her husband Robert of Linwood, NJ.
His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, from 9:00 AM until his Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Bux-Mont Christian Church 400 Jacksonville, Road, Ivyland, PA 18974. His interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

Bradford Peterson

November 3rd, 2011

Bradford ‘Brad’ Peterson of Yardley passed away on the morning of November 3, 2011 at Temple University. He was 20.

Born in Stony Brook, NY, Brad was the beloved son of Dave and Karin Vaher Peterson. He was their pride and joy.

Brad was a former resident of Stony Brook and Melville, NY before moving to Yardley in 2001. He was currently attending Temple University Fox School of Business studying Finance in the University Honors and Business Honors Programs on a full tuition merit scholarship, maintaining an A average. He was currently President of the Temple University Libertarians, Philadelphia Senior Campus Coordinator for Students For Liberty, Chief Financial Officer of WhatsOnCampus, Associate Analyst for the William C. Dunkelberg Owl Fund, Founder and Owner of BCP Enterprises, Co-Founder of Power Plant Productions, member of: Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society, Temple University Investment Association, Financial Management Association and Business Honors Student Association. Brad studied Estonian at Tartu University in the summer of 2011.

Brad was a National Hispanic Scholar, AP Scholar with Distinction, and graduated Pennsbury High School in 2009. While in high school he received the Music Theory Award and was a member of: Pennsbury Jazz Lab Band, Future Business Leaders of America, Pennsbury Concert Choir and Founder of Pennsbury Cereal Club. He received an abundance of awards throughout his life for his many accomplishments.

Brad loved spending time with his friends. He enjoyed music tremendously. He played many instruments throughout his life ranging from guitar, bass, drums, violin, and trumpet. He was a lover of nature and animals. His interests also included traveling, precious metals coin collecting, paleo cooking, history, reading and concerts. His most recent passions were economics and politics. Brad was looking forward to transferring to Cornell University this spring.

In addition to his parents Brad is survived by his sister Brooke Peterson and his brother Chase Peterson, both of Yardley, his grandparents, Eo and Tiiu Vaher of Melville, NY and his grandmother, Francisca Peterson of Baltimore, MD. He was the grandson of the late Carl Peterson.

Brad is also survived by many other relatives and friends who also adored him, as well as his precious dog, Nellie.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing, Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Susan L. Miller (Radwell)

November 1st, 2011

Susan L. Radwell Miller of Langhorne died suddenly, but peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. As in life, her loving family surrounded her when she left this world for a better one. She was 48.

Susan was the beloved wife of Jeffrey C. Miller; they met and married on LBI where they recently celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary.

Born in Lansdale, PA, Susan was the cherished daughter of Walter and Susan RodgersRadwell of Newtown, PA. She was, and always will be, her Daddy’s Girl and her Mommy’s Baby.

Susan graduated, with Honors, in 1981 from Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, PA after which she attended Bloomsburg University. There, inspired by her beloved cousin, and childhood partner-in-crime, T.J. Radwell, she pursued a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Special Education; she was determined to make a difference in the lives of students with special needs. Susan was a founding member of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority at Bloomsburg. After graduating Bloomsburg in 1985, she began her teaching career at Wordsworth Academy in Fort Washington, PA. In 1989, she became a member of the Special Education Department at Neshaminy High School in Langhorne, PA; she was a proud member of the Neshaminy Federation of Teachers. A true lover of learning, she continued her post-graduate studies earning a Master’s Degree in Special Education.

Susan believed in, and rooted for every student she ever encountered; She played an integral role in thedevelopment of Neshaminy’s Student Assistance Program. The Neshaminy Educational Support Team (NEST) received recognition and awardsat the local, regional, state and national levels, twice receiving the Safe and Drug Free School Recognition from Presidents Clinton and Bush. Originally focused on crisis intervention for students with substance abuse, NEST expanded its focus to preventative and maintenance programs for students-at-risk. Susan dedicated her professional life to helping kids in pain; it was her own physical pain that required her to retire too early from the career she loved. Susan stoically suffered from degenerative disc disease and irreversible nerve damagefor the last ten years.

Susan was an avid Philadelphia Sports fanatic; no fair-weatherd fan, she stayed loyal to her teams, she never missed a game. A perfect day for her was spent watching the Eagles, win or lose, with her extended family. While in the hospital, her family half expected the doctors to confirm that Susan did indeed bleed GREEN.
An animal lover, she was the proud owner of three Labrador Retrievers and was actively involved in Lab Rescue groups.

In addition to her loving husband and parents, Susan is survived by her two beloved children, Jeffrey C. Miller (Hooter) and Kathleen Mary Miller (Choobie). Her children were her world.

She is also survived by her adoring sister, KimberleeRadwell May, brother-in-law, Christopher T. May and her niece and Goddaughter Maggie Radwell May of Newtown. Her in-laws Charles and Ann Miller of Southampton, a loving brother and sister-in-law Charlie and Donna Miller, and two amazing nephews Kevin and Danny Miller of Warminster.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Thomas J. Radwelland KathleenT. AbramsRadwell of Lansdale, and her maternal grandparents Robert E. Rodgers and Patricia R.Hower Rodgers of Philadelphia.

David Leppert

November 1st, 2011

David Leppert of Horsham died suddenly on Tuesday, November 1, 2011. He was 44.

Born in Richboro, David was the beloved son of Patricia B. Sachs Leppert and the late Kenneth Leppert.

David was a former resident of Willow Grove until recently moving to Horsham. He was a machinist for many years with Reimel Machine in Willow Grove. David volunteered with the Fire Police in various municipalities. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, jet skiing and spending time at the beach. David will be deeply missed by his family and by all who came to know him.

In addition to his loving mother, David is survived by his daughter Addison Leppert, his brother Jeffrey Leppert and his wife, Kathleen, of West Chester and his sister, Jennifer Tanner and her husband, Raymond III, of Jamison. He is also survived by his three nieces, Rachel, Rebecca and Emma Leppert and his nephew, Jamie King.

James F. Dougherty Sr.

James F. Dougherty Sr. of Warminster, PA died peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2011, at Abington Hospital, Abington, PA. He was 95.

He was the beloved husband of Ethel M. “Dollie” Kligerman Dougherty for 70 years.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James and Margaret Kramer Dougherty, grandfather of the late Heidi Dougherty and father-in-law of the late John Hemple.

Mr. Dougherty was a resident of Ann’s Choice in Warminster for the past 3 years and formerly lived in the Somerton section of Philadelphia. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School for Boys, Class of 1935. Mr. Dougherty was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was the recipient of two bronze stars and successfully flew 49 missions as a B-29 tail gunner. His professional career was diverse and spanned many years. He was employed by Honeywell Corp. for 25 years, was the proprietor of a restaurant and bar, and retired in 2001 after working 20 years at Holy Redeemer Hospital as supervisor in the laundry department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mother Katherine Drexel Council in Northeast Philadelphia, where he was a fourth degree knight. In his leisure time, he enjoyed bowling and golfing.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his three children, James F. Dougherty and his wife, Kathleen, Debbie Hemple, and Timothy J. Dougherty and his wife, Jeanne. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday, November 5, 2011, from 9:00 AM until his Funeral Mass 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954.

Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

James (Jim) Burtt

October 31st, 2011

James "Jim" Burtt of Richboro, PA died peacefully on October 31, 2011 at the age of 91.

He was the husband of 51 years to Larice AR Burtt.

Jim was born in Chester, PA and began his early years with a love of dancing, singing and playing the organ that continued until the day he died.

Prior to going to college at Bucknell University he enlisted and served three years in the South Pacific during WWII. He met his wife to be, Larice, at Bucknell but before getting married went on to Columbia University to study History. At Neshaminy H.S., Jim taught history for many years and was also the Dean for several years. He enjoyed woodworking and ham radio but more than these he love to sail and Jim enjoyed taking friends and family down to the Jersey Shore or to Penn's Landing for and afternoon on his boat the "Lari B".

In addition to his devoted wife, Jim is survived by his son Jami and his wife Cindy, and his daughter Kyleann. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Anna, Justin and Nadine.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service 11:00AM, Saturday, November 12, 2011 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 820 Almshouse Road, Ivyland, PA 18974. Interment will be private.

John Charles Lukac

John Charles Lukac, 58, of Newtown, PA died peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center Hospice in Trenton, New Jersey. He went home surrounded by loving family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Elizabeth Nammack Lukac, and his adored children, Christina E., 22, and Joseph G., 20, of Newtown, PA.

John was born in Manhattan, NY to the late Joseph J. and Elsie M. Mares. In addition to his beloved wife Elizabeth and children Christina and Joseph, John is also survived by his loving sister, Maria C. Lukac of Long Island, NY and his loving Godmother, Matilda Palamara of Denville, NJ. There are numerous nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law and many good friends from the fellowship that will miss John more than words can express. His life was and will continue to be an inspiration.

John’s passions included family, friends, music, which lead him to become an accomplished musician who enjoyed composing, playing piano and guitar, and the sun and surf of Bel Mar Beach.

Dorothy M. Stiles of Holland, PA died suddenly on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Holy Redeemer Hospital, Meadowbrook. She was 78.

She was the beloved wife of Alfred L. Stiles for 56 years.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Blessing Esmond.

Mrs. Stiles was a resident of Holland since 1968. She graduated from St. Hubert High School for Girls in Philadelphia, Class of 1951. She loved all types of animals and enjoyed doing needlepoint in her leisure time. Her family came first and foremost in her life. She always enjoyed the special times spent with her sons and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her six sons, James G. Stiles and his wife, Ginny, of Southampton, Joseph E. Stiles and his wife, Karyn, of Jamison, William A. Stiles and his wife, Kathy, of Warminster, Paul F. Stiles of Holland, John R. Stiles of Holland, and Richard M. Stiles and his wife, Ruby, of Mantua, NJ. She is also survived by five loving grandchildren; Jonathan, Alexandra, Timothy, Richelle and Anna Stiles.

Martin Doyle

Martin J. Doyle “Marty”, of Southampton, formerly of Somerton, died on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Southampton Estates Health Care. He was 84.
He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Anne Connolly Doyle.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Martin J. and Ella C. Maley Doyle.
After graduating from North Catholic HS, Marty enlisted in the United States Navy and served in World War II. Marty studied Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation he went on to work at the Naval Shipyard in South Philadelphia, the City of Philadelphia, and the IRS. Marty was deeply devoted to his family. He enjoyed everything from the annual family vacations to the Jersey shore to his grandchildren’s soccer games, to an impromptu cookout in the backyard. His kindness, his honesty and integrity are his greatest legacy to his family. Marty was well known for his quick wit. His keen sense of humor and wonderful talent for making us laugh will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife he is also survived by his children Patricia Zaneski and her husband Thomas of Chalfont, Eileen Doyle-Rosseljong and her husband David Rosseljong of Langhorne, Bethanne Adamsky and her husband Brian of Jamison, Martin Doyle and his wife Christine of Holland, and Michael Doyle of Huntingdon Valley. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren; Meghan and Caitlin Zaneski, Casey and Kevin Rosseljong, Michael and Kevin Adamsky, Nicholas, Emilie, Sean and Caroline Doyle.
