Recent Obituaries

Robert F. Corrigan

January 4th, 2012

Robert F. Corrigan of Chalfont, PA died peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at the Abramson Center in Horsham. He was 75.

He was the beloved husband of Marian G. Corrigan for 42 years.

Born in New Rochelle, NY, he was the son of the late William S. and Julia E. Obelitz Corrigan and brother of the late William S. Corrigan Jr. and Priscilla M. Sullivan.

Mr. Corrigan was a resident of Chalfont since 1979. He graduated from Bloomsburg University, Class of 1959, where he received his bachelor degree in Education, English and Social Studies. While working a full time job, he continued his studies and received his master’s degree in Education from Trenton State College in 1976. Mr. Corrigan was a teacher at Upper Dublin High School for 36 years where he taught History, Economics, Government and English until his retirement in 1995. History was his true passion throughout his teaching career.

For many years, he was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, the Pennsylvania State Education Association and also the National Education Association.

In his leisure time, he always enjoyed travelling to different historical sites, was an avid reader, developed an appreciation for classical music, and was a big fan of both the History and cooking channels. He will be sadly missed as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Erin J. Corrigan of Perkasie, PA, and Heather M. Farber and her husband, Edward, of West Chester, PA. He is also survived by his brother Richard D. Corrigan and his wife, Carolyn, of Dagsboro, DE, and his loving granddaughter, Anna Juliet Farber.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday, January 9, 2012, from 9:00 AM until his Funeral Service 10:30 AM at Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (Route 202 at Sandy Ridge Road) New Britain, PA 18901.

Interment will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.

Vincent Michael Della Jacono

January 3rd, 2012

Vincent Michael Della Jacono died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. He was 84.

Vincent was the beloved husband of the late Kazuko Mizuno Della Jacono.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late John and Anna Dello Jacono and brother of the late Michael, John, Frank and Bridget Della Jacono.

Vincent was a resident of Holland for 10 years having formerly residing in Florida and California. He distinguished himself during his 25 year US Army career as part of our “Greatest Generation” and served during this nation’s major conflicts during World War II, Korea and Vietnam until being honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant. Vincent then embarked on his second career as the Office Manager of Rogers and Wells, a law firm in New York City until 1991. He enjoyed reading, crime shows and family.

Vincent was a Communicant of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland and will be deeply missed by his family and by all who came to know him.

Vincent is survived by his children, John Louis Della Jacono, his wife Mary of Kansas City, MO, Michael Joseph Della Jacono and his partner Del Carmichael of Queens, NY and Cecilia Ann Iguchi and her husband Steven of Holland. He is also survived by his brothers Carmine Della Jacono and Fred Della Jacono of Florida, his 5 grandchildren, Anthony, Michelle, Jennifer, John Michael and Phoebe and 1 great grandson, Declan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewings, Sunday January 8, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00pm and Monday, January 9, 2012 from 8:15 to 9:15am from the Joseph A. Harry Irving

December 31st, 2011

Harry E. Irving, of North Wildwood, NJ died on Saturday, December 31, 2011, at Cape Regional Medical Center. He was 73.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Phyllis Arata Irving, and brother in law of the late Florence Irving and Thomas Higgins.

He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Higgins of Warrington and his brother Robert James Irving of Holland. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna Zimmerman (Haegele)

December 30th, 2011

Anna L. Zimmerman of New Hope died Friday, December 30, 2011 at Buckingham Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Buckingham. She was 87.

Anna was the beloved wife of 63 years to the late Edward C. Zimmerman, Sr.

Born in Rockledge, PA, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Emma Ochs Haegele.

A former resident of the far Northeast Community of Philadelphia, Anna moved to retire in New Hope over 20 years ago. During World War II, Anna aided the war effort by working at Frankford Arsenal and later worked at the Pitcairn Estate and Sears Roebuck and Company. A warm hearted person who reached out to her family before herself, Anna was an avid cook and enjoyed baking and cake decorating, crafts, and spending time fishing with her husband on their boat in Tuckerton, New Jersey.

Anna is survived by her only son Edward C. Zimmerman, Jr. and his wife Doreen, and grandchildren Edward III and Jessica of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by her brother and sisters, Herman George Haegele of Davenport, FL, Ruth Francavilla of Westminster, CA, Jean Ferrell of Sebring, FL, and Marie Fellenz of Warminster and their respective children and grandchildren.

Brian J. Wittig, of Newtown, PA died on Dec. 29, 2011.

He was the beloved husband of Eileen (nee Quinter), son of Herman Wittig and the late Doris DuBois Wittig. He was the loving father of Brian H. Wittig, Kevin Wittig, Rene Wittig Burns (Stephen), Christopher Wittig and grandson Cameron Wittig. He was the brother of Cathy Wittig (Larry Waldman), Thomas Wittig (Geralyn) Karen Wittig (Donna MacLeod), and Jeanne Vanrell (Jason).

Joseph R. Reichel

December 28th, 2011

Joseph R. Reichel of Chalfont, PA died on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Doylestown Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was 46.

He was the beloved husband of Laura Goldress Reichel for 16 years.

Born in Fox Chase, PA, he was the son of Alfred O. Reichel of Warminster, PA and the late Diane B. Martin Reichel.

Joe was a resident of Chalfont for the past 12 years. For 21 years he was employed as a machinist at O.P. Schuman located in Warrington, PA. For the past 8 years, Joe has been a bartender at Kenny’s Madison Tavern in Warminster.

In his leisure time, Joe loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was always the active parent being the first to participate with his children, nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed photography, spending time with his dogs, all types of music, soccer and was a huge fan of Nascar. He will be sadly missed as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife and his father, he is survived by his two children, JR and Katie Reichel, both of Chalfont. He is also survived by his two brothers, Eric Reichel of Warminster and Fred Reichel of Hatboro. The Goldress Family held a special place in his heart for many years and especially as they helped fight the battle of cancer.

David W. McKeon

David W. McKeon, of Holland, formerly of N E Philadelphia died on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at his home. He was 47.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph W. McKeon, Jr. and Georgine Williams McKeon.

David was a resident of Holland for the past few months. He was a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School, class of 1982 and a graduate of Spring Garden College in 1986 with his degree in Computer Science. For the past 15 years David has been an the Application Developer for Hoshino Inc, of Bensalem, a Musical Instrument manufacturing company specializing in guitars and drums. David was devoted to youth development and has been a board member of the Parkwood Youth Organization for the past 10 years. David was the proud father of his 2 sons Kyle and Colin whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his 2 sons he is survived by his sister Diane M. Barth of York, PA., his brother Brian D. McKeon and his wife Susan of Holland and Scott McKeon and his companion Natalie Acevedo of Long Island, NY. He is also survived by 2 nieces and a nephew.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday from 10:00am until his Funeral Service 12 Noon at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro.

Interment will be private in Schuylkill Haven, PA., at a later date.

Warren F. Beideman, Jr.

December 27th, 2011

Warren F. Beideman, Jr., of Sellersville and formerly of Lewes, DE, and Richboro, Pa died peacefully on Tuesday December 27 at Pine Run Health Center in Doylestown.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Warren and Ruth Pearce Beideman.

Mr. Beideman was a veteran of the Army having proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Warren was an avid soccer player throughout his life and also enjoyed sharing his love for the game through coaching. He played and also coached for many years at the Phoenix Club in Feasterville. He also enjoyed spending time at the UGH Club in Oakford, the VE Club in Warminster, and at the Phoenix Club where he was a Life Member. Warren will be sorely missed by everyone who has come to know, love him and appreciate his talent for the game of soccer.

He is survived by his loving son Warren F. Beideman, III and his wife Bernadette of Sellersville, PA and his granddaughter Samantha.

Otto H. Welsch of Richboro died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown. He was 91.

Otto was the beloved husband of 62 years to Elsie M. Schuepfer Welsch.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Otto B. and Katherina Puljer Welsch.

Otto was a former resident of Philadelphia before moving to Richboro in 1989. He was a sheet metal contractor and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II.

In addition to his beloved wife Elsie, Otto is survived by his children, Charles E. Welsch of Philadelphia, George D. Welsch and his wife Debbie of Langhorne and Donna J. Geronimo of Levittown, his brothers and sisters, Eleanor Pike of Indianapolis, IN, Harold Welsch of Juno Beach, FL, Eugene Welsch of Gainesville, GA and Anita Moyer of Wilmington, DE and his 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Carmella Verdone (Zincaro )

Carmella Verdone of Levittown died peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2011. She was 91.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Adelina Zincaro and sister of the late Anne M. Matlack, Joseph, John, and Mark Verdone.

Carmella was a talented invisible mender for numerous years. She was an excellent surrogate mother to her nieces and nephews especially after her sister died suddenly at a young age.

Carmella is survived by her loving and caring nieces and nephews of several generations.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Friday, December 30, 2011 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Rd. Levittown, PA 19056 followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
