Lucille I. (nee Lieske) Charlton of the Mayfair section of Philadelphia and St. Bernard’s Parish died on January 2, 2013.
Lucille was the beloved wife of the late Paul Edward Charlton and dearest mother of Paul Charlton (Marianne), Kathleen C. Fedorko (John) and Karen A. Dezii (Christopher). She was also survived by her 6 grandchildren and her great granddaughter Lucy.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Saturday from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro.

Bruce A Smith, a life long resident of Wrightstown, died peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, January 1, 2013. He was 53.
Born in Doylestown, he was the beloved husband of 35 years to Michele E. Gormley Smith, devoted son of the late Robert J. and Bernadette M. Finnerty Smith.
Bruce was a graduate of Council Rock High School, class of 1977, and has been the proud owner of R. J. Smith Plumbing and Heating for the past 25 years having learned his profession from his late father. Bruce was a man of many talents who loved his family, he especially loved the time he spent traveling to Hawaii, Tahiti and Aruba to scuba dive. He enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas for craps tournaments. He was a die hard Eagles fan who had endless hope for the team.
His courageous battle with cancer never slowed him down; the highlight of the past few years even with his challenges was taking the love of his life Michele to Aruba for some well deserved fun in the sun and pool volleyball. He will be deeply missed by his caring and supportive family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife Michele, he is survived by his 2 daughters and a son; Crystal Smith-Nemeth (Drew), Danielle Nesteruk (Matt) and Bruce Smith, Jr. “Pop Pop” as he was known will be sadly missed by his 3 adorable grandchildren; Drew and Jack Nemeth and Regan Nesteruk. He is also survived by his devoted siblings, Barbara Koehler (Bill), Robert Smith, Jr. (Linda), William Smith and Beth Smith and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Betty and Warren Gormley.

William Harris Stevens III
Councilman, Banker, Sports Official
Bill Stevens, a thirty-four-year resident of Doylestown, PA, passed away on December 30, 2012 as the result of a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 70.
Born and reared in the Germantown and Chestnut Hill sections of Philadelphia, he was the son of the late W. Harris Stevens, Jr., and Ruth Longstreet Stevens. He is survived by his beloved wife and life partner of forty-seven years, Jean Louise Haack Stevens, daughters Julia Longstreet Davis (John) and Jessica Joan Darling (Timothy), and son Timothy Harris Stevens (Tara). He is also survived by sisters Julia Longstreet Stevens Stone of Mystic, CT, and Dr. Deborah Blair Stevens of Bethlehem, PA, as well as five beautiful grandchildren- Sage Thomas and Faith Violet Stevens, Catherine Longstreet and Grace Louise Davis, and Samantha Jean Darling — as well as ten nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a niece, Deborah Blair Bux.
Aside from his duties as a fifteen-year Councilman for the Borough of Doylestown (1990-2001 and 2010-2011), Bill is best remembered as an active sports official, instructor, and administrator for collegiate and other amateur levels of volleyball, softball, and baseball.
A 1965 graduate of Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University), Bill entered the U.S. Army’s Military Police Corps, serving in Georgia, Washington, and the Ryukyu Islands during the Vietnam conflict, eventually attaining the rank of Captain. He was a member of Doylestown’s American Legion (Albert Atkinson) Post #210, as well as the Guardians of the National Cemetery.
Following military service and a two-year stint in a family elevator business, he entered the world of commercial banking, where he worked for various financial institutions until his decision in 2006 to work as a sports officials’ coordinator on a full time basis. Until the time of his death, he worked tirelessly for the Atlantic 10 Conference, Patriot League, Ivy League, East Coast Volleyball, and several other organizations. He served the Keystone Region of USA Volleyball as its Chairman of Officials for more then twenty years. His personal volleyball officiating career included two National Referee ratings and countless collegiate conference and NCAA championship matches. USA Volleyball bestowed upon him the prestigious Leader in Volleyball and Glen Davies Referee Service awards.
A die-hard Phillies fan — and baseball in general — Bill umpired approximately two thousand collegiate, high school, youth, and adult baseball games, and served as President of the Lower Montco and Bux Mont American Legion Leagues since the 1970s.
Softball was also a passion. “Lawnchair” Stevens played in numerous modified-pitch leagues, culminating in the Doylestown over 35 League, for which he was its Commissioner until his passing. He also enjoyed immensely the camaraderie and downright fun of the Montgomery County Senior Softball League.
Bill was a life-long jazz enthusiast, having played piano in several bands back in college days.

John J. McBride, Jr. of Hatboro, formerly of Buckingham Springs, died peacefully on Friday December 28, 2012 at Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown. He was 95.
Born in Rydal, John was the beloved husband of Grayce Seitter McBride for the past 10 years. He was the son of the late John J. Sr. and Leona Mathis McBride, and husband of 62 years to late Florence Gilbert McBride who died in October 2000.
John was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. After the war, John and his brother, Paul McBride, where co owners of a machine shop, which was located in the Somerton section of Feasterville. In the late 1940’s McBride Motors was established, operating in Feasterville until 1964 when the dealership moved to Sycamore St. in Newtown. When John retired in 1983, his son, Robert, continued the dealership until the mid-1990’s.
John was self-taught and inquisitive. He loved to read and could often be found with an encyclopedia not far from his side. An avid boater and Coast Guard Auxiliary member, John looked forward to fishing with his buddies, as well as teaching classes in boater safety. Living in Ocean City and Barnegat gave him many opportunities to do what he loved.
A man of deep faith, he was an active member of the Church of the Advent in Hatboro for many years. He will be deeply remembered for his quick wit, firm handshake and being a man of his word.
In addition to his wife Grayce, he is survived by his daughter Diane L. McBride of Hatboro and his son Robert J. McBride and his wife Joyce of New Hope, 3 grandchildren, William, Jason and Sara, 2 great grandchildren Ryan and Brianna. Also surviving are Grayce’s children; Glenn Haist and his wife Betty, and Eric “Gregg” Haist and his wife Diane and 4 grandchildren; Lisa, Brad, Sarah and Emily and a great granddaughter Kailey Grayce.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service on Saturday, January 12, 2013. Bob’s family will receive condolences from10:00am until the service at 11:00am at the Church of the Advent 12 Byberry Rd., Hatboro, PA 19040.

Ruth M. Stewart, of Churchville, passed away on December 27, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Hospice. She was 75.
Born in Staffordsville, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William N. and Rebecca S. Lamson Ford.
Ruth was a graduate of Tuckerton High School in New Jersey. She spent most of her life as a domestic engineer while raising her son Keith. She loved to bowl, and was on a league in the past. Ruth enjoyed gardening, visiting casinos, antique collecting, and spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her brother: Robert N. Ford; her companion: Donald Lewin; her nephews: Mark Ford, husband of Frances and William Ford; her niece: Virginia Ford; her cousin: Judy Muller, and her good friend: Kelly Cern. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith A. Stewart and her brother, William R. Ford.

Joseph J. Ostroski Jr., of Williamstown, NJ. died suddenly on December 27, 2012. He was formerly of Northeast Philadelphia.
Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jane (nee Moncrief), devoted father of Gloria A. McCartney and the late Michael J. Ostroski , dear brother of Thomas V. Ostroski (Mary Anne) and loving grandfather of Julianne E. and Megan B. McCartney.

Charlotte T. Kohout Thomas, of Churchville, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in her home surrounded by the love of her family. She was 76.
Born in the Burholme section of Philadelphia, Charlotte was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Theresa Stahl Kohout.
Charlotte will continue to live in the heart of her husband of 51 years, Charles D. Thomas of Churchville.
Charlotte had worked for many years at Smith Kline & French in Philadelphia. After moving to Bucks County, she then was employed for 25 years as a nurse’s aide at the Friends Home in Newtown. As beautiful as the gardens she grew, Charlotte loved nature, flowers, birds, her pet turtles and dogs.
She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Being so strong and significant in our lives it is hard to imagine our time without her. Forever mom…we love you.
In addition to her husband and a dog named Annie, Charlotte is survived by her son: Steven Charles Thomas, daughter-in-heart: Kimberly O’Donnell-Thomas; her brothers: Howard Kohout and Joseph Cooke; and her grandchildren: Steven Robert Thomas, Carolan Marie Thomas, and Sara Rose Thomas.

Willard Eugene Wheaton Jr. of Chalfont, PA died peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Rockhill Mennonite Community, Sellersville. He was 86.
He was the beloved husband of the late Maria T. Riedlberger Wheaton.
Born in Youngstown, OH, he was the son of the late Willard Eugene Sr. and Gladys Mae Simon Wheaton.
Mr. Wheaton was a resident of Chalfont for the past 21 years. He graduated from Youngstown College with his bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Class of 1948. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy having served aboard the U.S.S. O’Brien during World War II. Early in his career, he was employed in the welding industry at Taylor Winfield Company in Youngstown, OH. Later he became the founder and owner of Wheaton Company, located in Warrington, for 36 years. In his leisure time, Willard enjoyed building numerous clocks and working on genealogy. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his two brothers, Warren Wheaton of Phoenix, AZ and William Wheaton of Mount Olive, KY. He is also survived by his long time dear friends, David and Marcy Belles of Zionsville, PA and their family.

Michele Shannon of Warminster died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at her residence. She was 47.
Michele was the beloved wife of 20 years to William Shannon.
Born in Meadowbrook, she was the daughter of the late Richard W., Sr. and Regina Markiewicz Hoffman.
Michele was a former resident of Churchville before moving to Warminster in 1992. She was a graduate of Holy Family University receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Michele had worked as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Doylestown Hospital for over 10 years. She will be remembered as devoted wife, mother and sister and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her beloved husband William, Michele is survived by her two children, William and Joseph Shannon of Warminster and her brothers Richard W. Hoffman, Jr. and his wife Suzanne of Feasterville and David Hoffman and his wife Maureen of Southampton and her sister Denise M. Dillon and her husband John of Langhorne.

Eugenia (Jean) M. Alfieri Pumo of Washington Crossing, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 25 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. She was 72.
She was the beloved wife of the late Victor A. Pumo.
Born in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Irma Palitto Alfieri.
Jean worked for Bristol-Meyers Squibb for over 20 years and was most recently, before her retirement, a supervisor in Travel Services. She enjoyed traveling and vacationing in the Outer Banks with her family, and playing golf with friends. She was also very active in the Bucks County Neighbors activity club. What she cherished the most above all was quality time she spent creating everlasting memories with her family and especially with her grandsons.
Jean is survived by her loving and devoted children Pamela A. Bruno of Warrington, PA and Victor J. Pumo of Holland, PA, and their respective spouses Larry and Laura. She is also survived by her four grandsons Victor, Michael, Daniel, and Ryan and her brother James A. Alfieri.
