Elizabeth H. Jenney

October 28th, 2013

Elizabeth H. Jenney, of Newtown, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2013 at Pennswood Village. She was 100.

Born in Bennington, VT, she was a daughter of the late Rollin D. and Olive Pope Jenney.

Elizabeth began her career in Vermont, working as a lab technician in Bennington and Rutland. She then moved to South Hadley, MA, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Mount Holyoke College, and was later employed by the Boston University School of Medicine. She then continued her education and employment at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology.

Her career was broad and varied. Elizabeth worked for the U.S. Navy in the Bethesda Naval Medical Research Institute in the pathology department, and also as an assistant in the department of pharmacology. During World War II, she was a member of the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service, or WAVES. Then came a move to Atlanta, GA, where she worked in the Neuropharmacology department of Emory School of Medicine at Emory University, and then to Skillman, NJ to the Department of Pharmacology at the Bureau of Research for the NJ Neuropsychiatric Institute, and later became the assistant director of the Princeton Brain Bio Center.

Elizabeth also volunteered her time and expertise as a fiscal agent for the NJ Mental Health Research and Development Fund, and as the Treasurer for the Schizophrenia Foundation of NJ.

In her free time, she enjoyed photography, traveling, which included trips to Europe, classical music, reading and gardening.

Elizabeth is survived by her nephew: Dr. Robert Rutherford and her niece: Francie Rutherford.

Mary C. Mayberry (O’Donnell)

October 27th, 2013

Mary C. O’Donnell Mayberry, of Yardley, died peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. She was 65.

Mary was the beloved wife of over 40 years to Ronald J. Mayberry.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Mary Lynch O’Donnell and the late John O’Donnell.

Mary was a former resident of Fox Chase and Churchville, and had resided in Yardley for the last 29 years. She was a 1966 graduate of Gwynedd Mercy Academy. After high school, Mary was a missionary for one year in Guyana, South America. After returning home, she pursued her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, graduating in 1972 from Holy Family University. She began teaching third grade at St. Cecelia School in Philadelphia. Mary was married in 1972, and continued teaching until her first son was born. She then focused on caring and raising her family. Mary truly enjoyed being a mother and the activities that came with it, from taking them to practice and participating in school activities. Once her children were grown, Mary went back to school and earned her Master’s in Special Education from Holy Family University, and later moved on to becoming a Special Education English teacher for 11th and 12th grade at Pennsbury High School. In earlier years, she had enjoyed tennis. Mary was a quiet, family oriented woman, and she was a loving wife, daughter, mother and sister, and will be forever missed.

In addition to her husband Ron, Mary is survived by her sons; Brian J. Mayberry and his wife Julia of Philadelphia, and Kevin S. Mayberry of Philadelphia. She is also survived by her brothers John O’Donnell (Elizabeth) and Patrick O’Donnell (Maureen) as well as her mother, Mary O’Donnell.

Mary’s family will receive condolences on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954 and Saturday, November 2 from 9:00 AM until her Funeral Mass 10:00 AM at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church, 999 Reading Ave. Yardley, PA 19067.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

Edith M. Kreuzburg (Miller)

October 26th, 2013

Edith M. Kreuzburg of Richboro, PA died peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Richboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with her daughter by her side. She was 102.

She was the beloved wife of the late George W. Kreuzburg.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna Hornish Miller and mother of the late George F. Kreuzburg.

Mrs. Kreuzburg was a resident of Richboro for the past 5 years and formerly lived in Bensalem and Northeast Philadelphia for most of her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol A. Christmas and her husband, Robert, of New Hope, PA, her daughter-in-law, Theresa Kreuzburg of Holland, PA, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Graveside Service on Saturday, November 2, 2013, at 12:00 PM at Forest Hills Cemetery, Philmont Avenue & Byberry Road, Hungtingdon Valley, PA 19001.

Walter J. Frayne

October 25th, 2013

Walter J. Frayne, of Philadelphia and formerly of Bucks and Montgomery Counties died peacefully holding the hand of his beloved wife on Friday, October 25 at his residence. He was 69.

He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Catherine C. Rutter Frayne.

Born in Philadelphia, Walter was the son of the late Walter F. and Frances Ushler Frayne

Walter was a proud Veteran of the Army who answered our country's call and served in the Vietnam Conflict. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 0945 in Harrisburg. He worked for UPS for 36 years as a Diesel Mechanic and was a proud member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers

In addition to his wife Cathy, Walter is survived by his children; Deborah Bosliovich and her husband Michael of Ellicott City, MD, Cathryn Sammons of Philadelphia, and Walter Frayne and his wife Diane of Penndel. He is also survived by his brother David Frayne and his 5 dear grandchildren; Juliete, Ethan, and Katie Bosilovich, and Rebecca and Alexander Frayne.

Rudolf Postiglione

October 24th, 2013

Rudolf Postiglione of Warrington and Doylestown, PA died peacefully with family at his side on Thursday October 24, 2013 at Doylestown Hospital. He was 88.

Born in the Bronx, New York he was the beloved husband of Josephine Dimino Postiglione and the devoted son of the late Sabino and Antonetta Gesualdi Postiglione.

Rudolf served in the US Navy during World War II and was a radio operator stationed in the Philippines.
Rudolf lived most of his married life in Staten Island, NY where he worked for the US Postal Service both in Staten Island and Manhattan for over 17 years. He later changed careers and worked for the Criminal Court System as a Court Officer for the State of New York for nearly two decades before retiring in the mid 80’s.

An avid sports fan he was dedicated to the New York Yankees and shared his enthusiasm for sports with his children. He was a beloved coach of both baseball and basketball players at St. Teresa’s School and Parish on Staten Island for many years. In 2003, he moved to the Doylestown area to be closer to his family, and he was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.

God and family came first and foremost in his life with his greatest blessings being his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and is deeply loved.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children; Thomas and his wife Loretta, Richard and his wife Monica, John and his wife Christine, Mary Messina and her husband Roger, Marc and his wife Sarah and Michael and his wife Jennifer. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren; Shawn, Lauren, T.J., Julia, Jenna, Anthony, Nicholas, Christopher, Francesca, Vincent, Joseph, Rachel, Catherine, Emily, Paul, David and Madison.

Rudolf’s family will receive condolences on Tuesday October 29, from 9:00am until his Funeral Mass 11:00am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 E. State St. Doylestown. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Doylestown.

Barbara Husted (Drummond)

Barbara A. Husted, of Holland, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. She was 72.

Born in Philadelphia, Barbara was the beloved wife of 50 years to Frank L. Husted, Jr. and daughter of the late Hubert F. and Frances Lehmkuhl Drummond.

Barbara was a graduate of Holy Child Academy, Sharon Hill, and West Chester University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She taught second grade at Hillcrest Elementary School in the Council Rock School District, retiring after 23 years of service. She has been a resident of Holland since 1972 and has been a faithful parishioner of St. Bede the Venerable Parish where she was also a former member of the choir. A lover of music, Barbara in her leisure, enjoyed playing the piano, the outdoors especially long walks on the beach in Ocean City NJ. Barbara will be sadly missed as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and teacher.

In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her children: Frank L. Husted and his wife Josephine of Irving, TX, David Husted and his wife Laura of Hollywood, MD, Stephanie Fetterman and her husband Stephen of Kingwood, TX, and Stephen Husted and his wife Angela of Ashburn, VA; her brothers: Robert Drummond and his wife Sybil, Henry Drummond and his wife Cathy and James Drummond and his wife Roseanne, and 10 grandchildren.

John Powell

October 24th, 2013

John Powell, of New Hope, PA and Naples, FL, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in Pennsylvania with his family by his side. He was 69.

Born and raised in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia by the late Francis Sr. and Pauline Powell, he was the son of the late Francis E. Powell Jr.

He was the beloved husband of Kathleen A. Fairman Powell for 28 years.

John was a graduate of Mastbaum Technical High School in Philadelphia. He was a very talented athlete who was invited to try out for two major league baseball teams.

After graduation, John joined his father in the insurance business. In 1971, he became co-founder of American Travellers Corporation and Vice President in charge of operations. Ten years later, John was elected President of American Travellers Life Insurance Company.

Soon after, John became Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. He led American Travellers to its first public offering making it a nationwide public company. In August of 1996, John announced the company was to be acquired by Conseco Inc.

After 35 years of service, John retired in 1999 and moved to Naples, FL with his wife and daughters. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf during his retirement.

John will be remembered as a loving father, devoted husband, and a dear friend. In addition to his wife, Kathleen, John is survived by his daughters: Denise Bizzaro of Sarasota, FL, Jennifer Powell of Naples, FL, and Krysten Powell of Naples, FL; his brother, Dick Powell, and his three grandchildren: Sophia, Richard and John.

Rita C. Stack (Palma)

Rita C Stack(nee Palma), of South Philadelphia died peacefully on Thursday, October 24 at Chandler Hall in Newtown. She was 86.

Rita was the beloved wife of the late Robert Stack and mother of the late Thomas P. Stack.

She is survived by loving daughters Susan Manegold( Bob) of Cloverdale, CA, and Beth Gavin (Fran) of Woodbury Heights, NJ, and daughter-in-law Susan Stack of Levittown, PA. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren

Born in Philadelphia, Rita was a lifelong resident of South Philadelphia and a faithful parishioner of St. Richard of Chichester Church. She enjoyed sharing her love of Charlie Brown and Snoopy with her grandchildren and creating memories with them that will last forever.

Herbert H. Barringer

Herbert H. Barringer of Chalfont, PA died peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 83.

He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Bacon Barringer.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Herbert M. and Alice Orr Barringer.

Mr. Barringer was a resident of Chalfont for the past 20 years. He formerly lived in Horsham for 40 years. He graduated from Northeast High School for Boys in Philadelphia, Class of 1947. Until his retirement in 1985, he was employed for almost 40 years with Bell Telephone Company, now AT&T, as a budget director. He was a co-founder of Hide Away Swim Club located in Horsham and was still an active member. In his leisure time, he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and was a member of the Radio Control Club of Bucks County. He will be sadly missed as a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

He is survived by his two children, Virginia B. Stacy and Gary Higginson of Ocean City, NJ and William S. Barringer and his wife, Donna, of Langhorne, PA. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Saul, of Brewster, MA, his 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday, October 28, 2013, from 9:30 AM until his Funeral Service 11:00 AM at Neshaminy Warwick Presbyterian Church, 1401 Meetinghouse Road, Warminster, PA 18974.

William J. Meisenzahl

October 20th, 2013

William "Bill" J. Meisenzahl of Newtown died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Buckingham Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Buckingham. He was 71.

William was the beloved husband of 36 years to Jean Veitch Meisenzahl.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Velma Meisenzahl.

William was a former resident of Holland, where his was a founding member of the Holland Lions and member of the Masons, before moving to Hernando, Florida and most recently to Newtown. Bill had his own trucking company and would take his dog Shane on many of his runs.

He was a gifted mechanic who repaired many trucks besides his own. He also built and raced his own dragsters in his youth.

When he retired from trucking he became the Plant Manager for Dimensions Unlimited in Tullytown PA.

Upon retiring from Dimensions Unlimited he worked as a School Bus Driver with the Council Rock School District during the day and enjoyed his entertainment business, Showtyme, during the evenings. Bill was a veteran of the US Army and in his leisure he enjoyed riding his trike with his friend Ron. For many years Bill had a boat, and enjoyed taking trips down the Chesapeake River, or taking the family camping in his motor home. During his retirement he made many trips with his golden retriever, Jake.

In addition to his wife Jean, William is survived by his Children; Wendi Rowley and (John) of Schwenksville, PA, Joseph O’Connor and (Megan) Willow Grove, PA, Elaine McMillan of Bensalem, PA. Robert Grisan of Levittown, PA. Dawn Scaccetti and (Jack) of Newtown,PA. He is also survived by his sister Janice Clark and (Dennis) of PA.

He will also be missed by his many grandchildren; Drew, Austin, Logan, Josephine, James, John, Bradford, Devon, Courtland, Brooke, Carson and Madison.
Great-grandchildren; Isabella, John, Gianna and Tessa.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 12:00 pm until his Memorial Service at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 25th in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro.

Interment will be private.
