Charles L. Powers, Jr. of Langhorne passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and devoted family on Monday, July 7th at St. Mary Medical Center. He was 86.
Charles was the beloved husband of 53 years to Marguerite “Marge” M. Gallagher Powers
Born in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Charles L., Sr. and Jeanette McGhee Powers and brother of the late Robert M. Powers.
Mr. Powers proudly attended the Portsmouth Priory (Abbey) School and Holy Cross College. When his country needed young men for military service, Charles honorably answered the call and joined the Army Air Force and served during World War II and its aftermath. He was a pioneer in the shopping center industry and managed and operated the Moorestown Mall, Plymouth Meeting Mall and the Neshaminy Mall. Charles was Legal Counsel and advisor for the E.B. O’Reilly Corporation in Chestnut Hill.
In addition to his wife Marge, Charles is survived by his loving children; Charles L. Powers III and his wife Fanny of Boise, ID, Stephen F. Powers and his wife Christine of Columbia, MD, Sally M. Powers of Springfield, PA, and Robert A. Powers and his wife Anne of West Chester, PA. He is also the proud grandfather of 8 loving grandchildren

Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

Wesley E. Carver, Sr. of Warrington, passed away on July 6, 2014 at Abington Health-Lansdale Hospital. He was 88.
Wes was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Cocito Carver.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Abraham and Laura Rasmussen Carver and brother of the late Carla Wilson and Dolores O'Neill.
Wes was a proud veteran of the Army who served his country during World War II. He was a devoted family man and will be remembered for his easy-going nature and infectious sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his children, Wesley E. Carver, Jr. and his wife, Ruth, of Flourtown, Pamela E. Firely (the late Richard), of Jamison, Patricia L. Armillei and her husband, Robert, of Doylestown, and Cynthia A. Posipanko and her husband, Robert, of Warrington. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and his brother, Abraham Carver and his wife, Natalie, of Mt. Laurel NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing from 10 AM until his funeral mass 11 AM on Monday July 14, 2014 at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Rd., Jamison, PA 18929. The interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.

Ida May Smedburg, of Churchville, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Holy Redeemer Hospital. She was 91.
She was the beloved wife of 69 years to Albert W. Smedburg.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William and Agnes Krewson Funk. Ida was preceded in death by her beloved son the late Alan E. Smedburg.
Ida was a resident of Churchville for 52 years. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing, and more recently loved taking trips to casinos with her husband. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be dearly missed.
In addition to her husband, Ida is survived by her daughter: Carol M. Larson and her husband Ronald K. of Churchville; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Sarah A. Mefford of Feasterville, PA died suddenly on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at her residence. She was 53.
She was the beloved wife of Dennis R. Mefford for 27 years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew A. and Mabel P. Herbert Kelly and sister of the late Andrew Kelly.
Mrs. Mefford was a resident of Feasterville for the past 30 years. She graduated from Council Rock High School, Class of 1979. Sarah was employed as a hairdresser at Riviera Hair located in Feasterville for 35 years. She was an avid NASCAR fan and loved all animals, especially her cats. Family came first and foremost in her life. She enjoyed the special times spent with her children and grandchildren and always looked forward to attending her grandson’s baseball games. She will be sadly missed as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cheryl L. Durnin of Lawrenceville, NJ, her son, Dennis E. Mefford of Feasterville, her brother, Raymond Kelly and his wife, Pat, of Philadelphia, and her four sisters, Mabel Moran of Philadelphia, Patricia Birch of Barnegat, NJ, Barbara Fallon and her husband, John, of Richboro and Susan Kuhn and her husband, Jeff, of Ivyland. She is also survived by her three loving grandchildren, Brianna and Nicholas Durnin and Cody Mefford and many nieces and nephews.

Robert A. Boorse of New Britain died peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He was 67.
Robert “Bob” was the beloved husband of Margaret M. Lewis Boorse for 48 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Margaret E. Stoll Boorse, father of the late Robert J. Boorse, and brother of the late Sandra J. Keegan.
Bob has been in the auto repair business for the past 50 years and has owned and operated auto repair shops for the last 40 of those years. He was the President of the Bucks County Inspection Association from 1994 to 2002 and held many certifications and awards in the field.
In his leisure, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing with his dogs as an avid dog lover and rooting for his favorite sports teams as he was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan.
In addition to his beloved wife Margaret, Bob is survived by his loving son Jeffrey J. Boorse, his wife Theresa of Warminster and his two grandchildren Julianna and Jeffrey. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Gary Keegan and Kevin Lewis (Michelle) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernice H. Stein, of Warminster, PA died on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Doylestown Hospital. She was 85.
She was the beloved wife of 65 years to Leroy W. Stein.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William and Jeanette Altmeier Horner, mother in law of the late Edmund L. Herrman II and grandmother of the late Edmund L. Herrman III.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Richard and Harriet Stein of Warminster and Barbara Herrman of Doylestown, and her brother William Horner of Montgomeryville. She is also survived by her five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Dorothy M. Derago of Southampton died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at St. Joseph Manor in Meadowbrook. She was 83.
Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Anthony F. Derago.
Born in Philadelphia, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary M. Wise Seltzer and mother of the late Robert E. Stone.
Dorothy was a former resident of Philadelphia and Richboro before moving to St. Joseph Manor. She was a branch manager for Central Penn Bank in Morrel Park, retiring after many years of service. Dorothy was an avid Phillies fan, and enjoyed bowling, and exercise, especially walking. Devoted to her family, she was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Randy and Harry Milbourne of Philadelphia and Sandra L. and Gerald Burdsall of Southampton. She is also survived by her grand daughter Heather L. Burdsall and her special pet dog Tippy III.

Marie E. Guertin, of Holland, formerly of Frankfordon, died on July 1, 2014.
Marie was the sister of Edgar Guertin (Monika) and the cousin of Carolyn Morrison.
Marie graduated from Ellis School for Girls and later received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Temple Univ. and her Master’s degree in Library Science from Drexel Univ. She was employed by the Free Library of Phila., for many years, and was a former parishioner of St. Bartholomew’s Church.

Kathleen M. Palmer of Perkasie died Tuesday July 1, 2014 at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington. She was 67.
Kathleen was the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Palmer.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, Kathleen was the daughter of the late Martin and Mary Walsh Ivers.
Kathleen was a former longtime resident of Ambler before moving to Perkasie in 2000. She enjoyed a successful career with Prudential Insurance in Horsham retiring as a Facilities Manager after 35 years of dedicated service. Kathleen was a faithful and devoted Communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Hilltown. She exemplified the true meaning of being a Catholic by unselfishly volunteering countless hours of her time for the development of her faith and church. Kathleen enjoyed the quality times gathering with her friends and family especially her special “Paddy”. She will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kathleen is survived by her Aunts Ann McNamara and Kay Walsh, nieces and nephews; Nolan Ivers of Oceanport, NJ, Michael Ivers of New Brunswick, NJ, Megan Ivers of Long Branch, NJ, William Dougherty of Sicklerville, NJ, Mary Ellen Morris, Mary Ann Ruane and Claire Festa of Scranton and Dan Dougherty of Richmond, VA. Bethanne Brodie of Richboro went to be with her Lord on June 29, 2014, the day of her 47th wedding anniversary to her beloved husband, Bob Brodie. She had just turned 70 years old on June 26th.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Harry Tyler and Anne Birkenshaw Grace.
Bethanne graduated from Council Rock High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in education from Millersville University.
She spent over twenty five years dedicated to teaching grade school students at several Christian schools. Bethanne took great pride sharing her dedication, love, and faith in God with her students.
Bethanne loved sharing her gift of art and music with her students, family and friends. Bethanne’s greatest love, however, was for her family whom she adored. Her supreme role was as a wife, mother, and grandmother and her good natured and gracious spirit will be missed immensely.
In addition to her husband, Bethanne is survived by her sons, Robert Bruce and his wife, Kirsten, of Jacksonville, NC and Brent Alan and his wife, Jennifer, of Bluffton, SC; her cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie, Lily, and Riley; and her brother, Rev. Harry P. Grace and his wife, Katy, of New York.
