October 1st, 2014
Antonin Y. Lassonde, of Lansdale, died on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Abington Health-Lansdale Hospital. He was 88.
He was the beloved husband of 66 years to Florentine E. Jourdan Lassonde.
Born in Canada, he was the son of the late Hector and Aurora LeBlanc Lassonde.
Antonin was a dedicated American and served his Country proudly in the United States Army. For over 20 years he faithfully served in the military and fought for his Country during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War.
He is survived by his children Patrick and Susan Lassonde of Mechanicsville, PA, Ronald S. and Cindy Lassonde of Pleasanton, CA, and Gisele E. Cline of Houston, TX, his brother Conrad Lassonde, and his sister Sylvette Cote. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren; Alexa, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Daniel and his 3 great-grandchildren; Abigail, Liam and Logan.
His funeral service and interment were private at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

Patricia P. Swart died on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at her home in Ann’s Choice, Warminster, PA. She was 85 years young.
She was the beloved wife of the late Richard H. Swart Jr. with whom she celebrated nearly 55 years of marriage.
Born in Dobbs Ferry, New York in 1929, she was the daughter of the late Elliott and Dorothy Shipman Pettigrew. Raised in Hastings on the Hudson, NY, she was a 1950 graduate of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. She married in 1951 and devoted herself to her husband, family and home. Active throughout her life, she enjoyed many hobbies; golf, bridge, gardening, and traveling which also included the annual family reunion in Nags Head, North Carolina. Her children considered her Christmas cookies world famous.
For over 30 years she lived in York, PA, where she raised her 4 children. In 1989, after Richard retired, they moved to Hendersonville, NC, where she was able to take advantage of the wonderful climate and kitchen window view of the eastern side of the Smokey Mountains. She enjoyed her traveling golf group “The Grasshoppers” and christened par 5s as “forever holes”. She cherished the 15 years she had there, but relocated to Ann’s Choice Warminster, PA, shortly after her husband passed. Her kind and wonderful ways will long be remembered by those who knew her.
She is survived by her children Douglass and his wife, Gretchen of Chalfont, PA, William and his wife Mara of Kansas City, MO, Virginia Travers of Waldorf, MD, and Peter and his wife Sharon of Mason, NH. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 24, 2014 from 9:30am until her Funeral Service 11:00am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901. Her interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.

Drew C. Ferrandino of Newtown passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at DuPont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. He was 12.
Born in Middletown, he was the cherished son of Anthony and Catherine Ferrandino of Newtown.
In addition to his parents, Drew is survived by his brother Gavin Ferrandino, his paternal grandparents; Rocco and Dolores Ferrandino, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Drew was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Maureen LaFortune.
Drew’s courageous battle with Batten Disease was an inspiration to us all. The love and support of friends, family and this community gave us the strength to give Drew the best life possible. His smile & spirit shall shine bright forever.

Phyllis Leonardis, a resident at Gwynedd Square Nursing Center, died on Saturday, September 27, 2014. She was 83.
Born and raised in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Constance Costa Leonardis, and sister of the late Gerard Leonardis. She is survived by her sister Conny Ferrett and her husband Raymond of Chalfont; her brother Lawrence Leonardis and his wife Marion of Brick, NJ; her aunt Josephine Costa; her godson Andrew Ferrett; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a loving and generous woman who will be greatly missed by her beloved family.
Phyllis was happily employed for 14 years at the Doylestown Country Club where she made many friends. After her retirement, she worked part time at her parish Mary, Mother of the Redeemer where she loved helping the children as an Aide in the school cafeteria.
She was a devout Catholic, a true daughter of the Church, with a strong faith in God and deep devotion to the Blessed Mother. Her loving demeanor, kindness, tolerance and desire to help others will be remembered and held dear by her family and friends whom she prayed for daily.
Her family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church from 9:30 am until her Mass of Christian Burial begins at 10:30 am. The church is located at 1325 Upper State Road, Montgomeryville, PA 19454. Interment will follow in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt, NJ.

Rose Mary T. Manning of Penns Park, PA died peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at her residence with her daughters by her side. She was 95.
She was the beloved wife of the late Frank E. Manning.
Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Mabel Downing Hickey. Rose Mary was predeceased by her 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Mrs. Manning has been a resident of Penns Park since l957. She graduated from John W. Hallahan High School for Girls in Philadelphia, Class of 1935. After graduating high school she worked for Sears & Roebuck in Philadelphia from 1935 to 1944. From 1944 until 1954 she was employed as a secretary for the Department of the Navy in Philadelphia. In 1948 she was married to her loving husband Frank E. Manning. They started a family and she stayed at home taking care of her family for many years. In 1975 she started working for the Internal Revenue Service Center in the Treasury Department till 1990 when she retired. In her leisure time she was an avid reader, enjoyed taking trips to the shore and vacationing in the Pocono Mountains. Mrs. Manning was very family oriented and had a close relationship with her sisters and brothers throughout their lifetime. She always looked forward to the special times spent with her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Rose Mary is survived by her four children, Douglas F. Manning of Willow Grove, PA, Rosemary A. Manning of Penns Park, PA, Craig J. Manning and his wife, Cathy, of York, PA and Valerie A. Coolbaugh of Penns Park, PA. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and her sister Josephine Wieland of Langhorne, PA.

John P. “Jack” Fogarty of Holland, PA passed away peacefully at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home in Philadelphia on Friday, September 26, 2014, at the amazing age of 95, with his son Ron by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Anna Marie Marhoefer Fogarty. They were married just one day shy of 73 years.
Born in Mahanoy City, PA, he was the son of the late James and Sarah Foley Fogarty and brother of the late Edward, William and Lawrence Fogarty.
Mr. Fogarty was a resident of Holland since 2008 and formerly lived in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia for 60 years. John served his country here and overseas and was an honorably discharged veteran of World War II. He joined PSFS in 1946 as a Night Security Guard and moved up through positions of increasing responsibility in the Banking Department. John retired from PSFS in 1981, after 35 years of distinguished service as a Senior Vice President. During his tenure at PSFS, he furthered his education by attending Brown University in Rhode Island, the Wharton School, and Penn State Management Development courses. He was active in academic affairs at LaSalle College where he served on the council of president’s associates and was a member of the college publicity committee.
John loved the Lord and was a man of great faith. He was a faithful member of Men of Malvern and attended religious retreats at Malvern Retreat House for over 50 years, never missing a year. John touched the lives of many with his genuine kindness and now we are all blessed to have our own personal angel in heaven.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his five children, John P. Fogarty, Joyce A. Wasko (the late Leon), Ronald J. Fogarty, Andrea T. Cook and her husband, Richard, and Tina A. Ford and her husband, Richard. He is also survived by his two sisters, Margaret DiBella and Mary Handschuh, and was the fun, loving and singing Pop-Pop of 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
His family will receive friends on Friday, October 3, 2014, from 9:30 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966.
Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville.

Robert W. Krotz, Sr. of Newtown went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at St. Mary Medical Center. He was 61.
Robert was the beloved husband of 38 years of Patricia B. Schlachter Krotz.
Born in Abington, he was a son of Theresa Williams Krotz and the late Harry F. Krotz.
Robert was a graduate of Council Rock High School and went on to work in the Auto Body Business before spending the rest of his career working in construction, first for Crompton & Seitz Construction where he spent 25 years. Most recently he was employed with Pine Run Construction from where he retired in 2013.
A man of deep faith, Robert was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Wycombe. He was a member and officer of Edgewood Grange #688. A true motorcycle enthusiast, he was a long time member of the Blue Comets Motorcycle Club in Skippack. In addition to spending time out on his bike, he also enjoyed time outdoors with his family, camping, hiking and family trips. He also treasured time spent with his grandkids, family and friends at his home, a farm which was in his family for generations. His warm and kind spirit will be dearly missed by his all that came to know and love him.
In addition to his wife and mother, Robert is survived by his children, Robert W. Krotz, Jr. and his wife, Trina, of Holland, Amy P. Colwell and her husband, Chris, of Holland, and Daniel Krotz of Newtown and his girlfriend, Jackie; his adoring grandchildren, Shane and Ava Colwell and Rebecca and Robert W. Krotz, III; his brothers, Harry Krotz and his wife, Mary Jane, Douglas Krotz and his wife, Sally; and his sister Diane Dodaro and her companion, Rob.

Bernard M. Howard of Furlong passed away at the age of 76 on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Doylestown Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bernard was the beloved husband of Carol McKeown Howard for 52 years.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Bernard and Dorothy Binder Howard and the brother of the late John Howard. Bernie was a proud graduate of Roman Catholic High School, Class of 1955 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Doylestown. He enjoyed playing pinochle, poker, and golf and was an avid Phillies fan. Bernie was a true family man always involved in his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, from coaching soccer to attending cheerleading competitions and ice hockey games. He will be truly missed by his family and by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his wife Carol, Bernie is survived by his children and their spouses: Steven and Susan Howard of Boston, MA, Karen and Douglas Gaida of Warwick and Mark and Beth Howard of Hilltown. He is also survived by his sister, Dottie Leshak and her husband Roman of Chalfont and his four cherished grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Brittany and Kyle.

Catherine “Cas” Barol (Grogan)

Catherine “Cas” Barol, (nee Grogan), of Levittown died peacefully at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown, PA with her devoted son at her side, after a long struggle with the disease of Alzheimer’s, her passing was Wednesday, September 24, 2014. She was 90.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the beloved wife of 67 years to the late Robert N. Barol; she was daughter of the late Martin and Mary Duffy Grogan. Catherine was predeceased by her daughter Regina Scharpman, granddaughter Lynne Owen and great granddaughter Tara Owen.
Catherine was a graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls, class of 1942. Catherine worked for the Bristol Township School District, from 1977 until 1989, as a secretary at several of the schools in the district.
Catherine is most remembered for her wonderful smile, her love for her husband Bob, family and little children. Her gentle expressions of affection, grace and sweetness never left her as the disease progressed.
Catherine was a homemaker first and foremost, she loved to cook and garden; she had the hands of an artist when working with a needle and thread, making costumes and dresses. She was able to make almost anything and mend it if needed. In her spare time Catherine enjoyed listening to music of all eras and socializing with her peers at Chandler Hall where she lived for 3 years, and also the Adult Day Health program at Chandler Hall that she attended for 3 years prior.
Catherine is survived by her devoted children; Lorraine B. Calhoun (Newton), Martin A. Barol (Lisa) and son in law Gary Scharpman. She is the dear sister of Mary Teresa Tkaczyk. She is the loving grandmother of Rick Owen (Leanne), Christina Calhoun (Tyson Thielen) and Kathryn Calhoun; the great grandmother of Hailey Owen and the great great grandmother of Cici Arencibia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10am until her service at 11am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd, (at Holland Rd) in Richboro.
Interment will follow in King David Memorial Park, Bensalem.

Dorothy L. Grolman of Chalfont, died peacefully on September 23, 2014 at Doylestown Hospital, surrounded by her friends. She was 92.
Born in Philadelphia she was the beloved wife of the late David M. Grolman and daughter of the late Richard A. and Marsha A. Knauer Hoch.
Dorothy was a resident of Chalfont for several years. She was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hilltown, and worked for many years as a secretary for the Keebler and Nabisco baking companies in Philadelphia. Dorothy enjoyed cooking and looked forward to traveling with friends.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her Funeral service on Monday October 27, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church 1530 Augsburg Drive Hilltown, PA. 18927. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
