Corinne Kline Hill of Southampton Estates died peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2015, at Abington Memorial Hospital. She was 89.

Born in Tamaqua, PA, she was the beloved wife of the late Robert Hill, daughter of the late Clarence and Bertha Williams Kline, and sister of the late Roy Eugene Kline.

Corinne graduated from Olney High School in 1943 and Germantown Hospital Nursing School in 1945. She worked at Germantown Hospital for several years. Corinne was a resident of Mayfair, Philadelphia for many years prior to moving to Southampton Estates in 2002. She was a former member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church where she was an active congregant. For the past 13 years Corinne has befriended many of the residents at Southampton Estates, where she enjoyed bowling, sewing and cooking. Her most precious times were spent with her children and grandchildren.  

She is survived by her devoted children and their spouses; Barbara Korn and her husband Frederick, Nancy Klikus and her husband Edwin, Robert Hill Jr. and his wife Christine, her brother Melvin John Kline, and her 8 loving grandchildren; Eric (Melissa) Korn, Paul Korn, Christina Mills, Jennifer Best (Michael), Kimberly Klikus, Courtney Hill, Ryan Hill and Blake Hill and 3 great grandchildren; Nathan Mills, Tyler Best and Greta Korn.

Dolores M. “Ginger” Purdy of Newtown and formerly of Wellsboro, PA and a former long time resident of Philadelphia passed away March 1, 2015 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown with her loving family by her side. She was 83.  

She was the loving wife of 28 years to the late Walter J. “Jim” Purdy.

Born in Philadelphia, Ginger was a daughter of the late Daniel and Marion Moreland Mullin.  

Ginger was a graduate of John W. Hallahan High School for girls in Philadelphia and later met and married her beloved husband. Together they raised their family and Ginger went on to work as a bookkeeper for the F.C. Haab Company before her retirement.

Ginger possessed a magnetic personality and her zest for life was deeply felt by everyone around her. She was born and raised in Philadelphia and later relocated to Wellsboro, PA.   Although she was proud to call herself a “country girl”, she never lost her love for the Mummers and cheering on her Philadelphia Eagles.

Most of all, Ginger treasured her life which was filled with immense love and laughter from her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Ginger is survived by her children, James F. Purdy and his wife, Marie, of Gaithersburg, MD, Elizabeth A. Smith and her husband, Jim, of Wellsboro, and Steve Purdy and his wife, Tenaz, of Yardley; her adoring grandchildren, James, Janine, Kimberly, Lauren, Deeanna, Marisa and Samantha; her great-grandchildren Kira, Fiona, Emerson, and Sonya. Ginger was eagerly anticipating the arrival of another great-grandson, expected soon.

She also leaves behind her brother Francis Mullin and his wife, Jule, of Blackwood, NJ.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Ginger was preceded in death by her sister, Marion Wenner.

John L. “Jack” Rhoades Jr. of Newtown, PA died on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. He was 73.

He was the beloved husband of April Grosso Rhoades for 37 years.

Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the son of the late John L. Sr. and Helen Walton Rhoades.

Mr. Rhoades was a resident of Richboro for 37 years before moving to Newtown in June 2014. He was employed as a collection supervisor for Public Service Electric and Gas in New Jersey for 37 years before his retirement in 1997.

In his leisure time, Jack enjoyed dabbling in the stock market and always liked taking a chance at the horse races. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Being family oriented, he especially enjoyed the times spent with his family. His two grandsons went to visit him this past week and just the sight of them brought a beaming smile to his face and made him laugh. He will be sadly missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kristi S. DeCarlo and her husband, Kevin, of Newtown, PA and his sister, Dorothy Rittenberry and her husband, Kevin, of Allentown, New Jersey. He was the loving Pop Pop of Logan G. and Carter R. DeCarlo and special uncle to Isabelle Rittenberry of Allentown, NJ.

Irene K. Stieber of Richboro, PA passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. She was 85.

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Francis Joseph Stieber and loving mother of the late James D. Stieber.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Margaret Wallace Carroll and sister of the late James M. Carroll and Margaret Habercorn.

Mrs. Stieber was a resident of Richboro for the past 58 years. She graduated from St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls in Philadelphia, Class of 1947. She was a past member of St. Mary Medical Center Women’s Guild. Irene enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing bridge, golfing and travelling, especially taking her annual vacation to Pompano Beach, FL which she looked forward to every year. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was so proud of all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and always had a story to share about them with her friends.  Since several of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren are musically talented, she always enjoyed attending their concerts, productions and dance recitals. She will be sadly missed as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, special aunt (“Aunt Mom”), sister-in-law and friend to all who knew her.

 Irene is survived by her five children; Francis Jerome Stieber and his wife, Anne, of Dresher, PA, Christopher G. Stieber and his wife, Faith McKee, of Churchville, PA, Marian J. Stieber of East Norriton, PA, Joel M. Stieber and his wife, Sue, of Stevens, PA and Irena K. Bordonaro and her husband, Charles, of Worcester, PA. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosemary T. (nee Brennan) Callan, of New Hope, died peacefully on February 28, 2015.

Rosemary was the beloved wife of the late Francis A. Callan, dearest mother of Missy Zoto (Lou), Patricia M. Lipari, Francis A. Callan and Cathlene Callan, devoted grandmother of 7 dear grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Rosemary’s family will receive condolences on Thursday March 5, from 10:00 am until her Memorial Mass at 11:00am at St. Alphonsus Church 33 Conwell Dr. Maple Glen, PA 19002. Interment will be private.

Evelyn B. Smevog of Southampton, PA died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at Holy Redeemer Hospital, Meadowbrook, on Friday, February 27, 2015. She was 93.

Born in Nokomis, Illinois on Aug. 20, 1921, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Homer and Josie Moos Stivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Lawrence and Wendell Stivers, and a sister Norma Jean Bertinetti. She is survived by her husband of almost 64 years, Robert A. Smevog of Southampton; two children Jeanine Evans and her husband Lee of Fallsington, and Dr. Eric Smevog of Holland; three grandchildren Daniel Evans of Lancaster, Kathryn Esposito and her husband James of Newtown, and Douglas Evans of Lafayette, Indiana; and two great-grandchildren James and Bennett Esposito of Newtown. She is also survived by her two sisters-in-law Marjorie Stivers of Mt. Olive, Illinois and Betty Stivers of Jasper, Arkansas, her brother-in-law Frank Bertinetti of Raymond, Illinois, and three nieces and four nephews and their families.

After graduating from Nokomis High School, Evelyn moved to Chicago, where she was an executive secretary at the Victor Adding Machine Company, working on the Norden Bombsight project during WWII. In Chicago, she met the love of her life Bob Smevog, and they married in 1951 while he was in the Navy stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. They later moved to Wichita, Kansas and Niagara Falls, New York before settling in Bucks County.

Evelyn was a life-long lover of learning. She learned Braille and transcribed books for the Library of Congress and in later life took many classes at the Bucks County Community College, becoming a medical transcriber as well. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting, playing the organ, languages, and crossword puzzles. Above all she cherished her family and was a beloved and devoted wife and the gentlest and kindest mother and grandmother.

Marie T. Gibbons of Southampton died peacefully on Wednesday February 25, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Hospice in Meadowbrook. She was 89.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the beloved wife of 67 years to Paul D. Gibbons, daughter of the late Matthew and Anna Gannon McVey and Mother of the late Maryann Gibbons and Marie Gibbons.

Marie was a graduate of St. Hubert's High School for Girls, class of 1944. She was a resident of Huntingdon Valley for many years before moving to Southampton 26 years ago. She was a faithful and active communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish.

Marie loved playing cards and belonged to a Bridge Club for many years; she also looked forward to bowling with family and friends.

Marie and her husband where blessed to have 10 children, to which she devoted her life, setting good example and she succeeded and has been rewarded by God with many happy years as a Mother and her children have blessed her with 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Marie will be sadly missed not only by her caring family but many life long friends.

In addition to her beloved husband, Marie is survived by her children and their spouses; Paul D. Gibbons, Jr and his wife Patti, Patti McTear and her husband Tom, Donna M. Donohoe and her husband Bill, Daniel Gibbons, Barbara Cook, Edward Gibbons, Suzanne Leven and her husband Greg, and Nell Bailey and her husband Scott. She is also survived by her sister Ann Marasheski. Also surviving are her loving 24 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Matthew Sheehan, of Oakford, PA died on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. He was 34.

Born in Meadowbrook, PA, he was the fifth born of eleven children of Ed and Nancy (Newnam) Sheehan.

A working class electrician, he was very proud of his trade. As a child Matthew was very gentle minded, and was always looking for approval and to fit in with his friends and among his ten brothers and sisters, he always aimed to please whoever he was with at any time.

He possessed a great sense of humor and was always able to lighten even the most serious mood with his jokes and keep everyone around him laughing.

Matt was a very loving father and family oriented. Even though things became tough over the last few years, he always said "We're a family we, have to be there for each other". His heart was huge and no person or situation could change that or waiver his unbreakable loyalty.

His last four days were the most memorable and his friends and family will miss him immensely because he has taken a piece of them with him.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his children, Matthias, Ian, Emma, and Bryson Michael Sheehan, his 6 brothers Edward M. Sheehan III, Padriac and Olivia Sheehan, Brendan and Beth Sheehan, Gaelan Sheehan, Gerard Sheehan, Shamus Sheehan, his 4 sisters Kathleen and Jim Frey, Nancy and Ray Ruch, Marybeth and Liam Kelly, Brenna and Tom Maertzig, his paternal grandfather Edward Sheehan. He is also survived by his best friend and girlfriend, Liz Zoppina and many, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother Elizabeth Dudley Sheehan, and his maternal grandparents John and Doris Murray Newnam.

Dr. Miroslav Martinovic of Ewing, NJ passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 with his loving family by his side in Chandler Hall in Newtown, PA. He was 58.

Born in Serbia, he was the son of Milka Krcmar Martinovic and the late Milutin Martinovic.

Miroslav attained his masters degree at New York University and his doctorate in Computer Science from Belgrade University. Miroslav was a professor of Computer Science at Pace University, Wagner College, and most recently the chair and head of the department at The College of New Jersey. He enjoyed running, soccer, traveling, jazz and classical music, as well as celebrating his Serbian heritage. He also enjoyed watching his daughters playing tennis and performing in piano concerts. Most notably, he was devoted to his family.

In addition to his wife Katya, he will be deeply missed by his three daughters, Anna, Maria, and Sandra Martinovic and his mother, Milka.

Else Wecker of Warrington, PA died peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 82.

She was the beloved wife of Rolf Wecker for 56 years.

Born in Geislingen, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Mattheus and Anna Schmid Buehner.

Mrs. Wecker was a resident of Warrington for the past 16 years. She immigrated to the United States in 1953. Along with her husband, she was the owner of Ralph’s Pastry shop located in Richboro from 1973 to 1988. She was affectionately known as the “cookie lady” to many customers. Mrs. Wecker was a member of Addisville Reformed Church for over 35 years. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Being family oriented, she cherished the special times spent with her children and grandchildren. She will be sadly missed as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

In addition to her beloved husband, she is survived by her son, Kurt R. Wecker and his wife, Diane, of Doylestown, PA, her daughter, Christine Errico and her husband, Andrew, of Newtown, PA and her three sisters, Ruth Buehner and Gerda Senft, both of Geislingen, Germany and Lotte Burits of Rockledge, PA. She is also survived by her four loving grandchildren, Matthew and Morgan Wecker and Christopher and Angela Errico.
