Nancy R. Schnell (Orth)

May 3rd, 2015

Nancy R. Schnell of Doylestown died peacefully on Sunday May 3, 2015 at Briarleaf Health Care. She was 73.

She was the beloved wife of the late Bruce C. Schnell.

Born in Trenton New Jersey, she was the second youngest of 11 children to the late Lloyd and Jennifer Landolphi Orth.

Nancy was a graduate of Roxboro High School, class of 1959 and immediately began her career as a loan officer for a small company. After many years of hard work she became the Vice President of Operations at American Financial Corporation where she retired from in 2002.

Nancy was a faithful and active member of the New Britain Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served on several committees. She loved animals especially her cats, she enjoyed working in her garden, going to the Jersey Shore to walk the beach. She will be sadly missed by her devoted family and friends. 

Nancy is survived by her 2 caring sons; William E. Schnell and Christopher B. Schnell, 2 brothers Albert and John Orth, 3 sisters; Jean Anderson, Virginia Hays and Alyce Groff. She is also survived by her 2 dear grandchildren; Mary and Joseph Gregg.

Nancy’s family will receive condolences on Saturday May 9, 2015 from 10:00am until her Memorial Service 11:00am at New Britain Baptist Church, E. Butler Ave. at Tamanend Ave. New Britain, PA 18901.  Her interment will be held privately.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Disease Association, 399 Market St. Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

Marie F. Dougherty (Fitzmyer)

April 30th, 2015

Marie F. Dougherty of Doylestown passed away with her family by her side on April 30, 2015 at Doylestown Hospital. She was 86.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Fitzmyer.

Marie was a graduate of Little Flower High School. She was employed as a Claims Representative for many years with Prudential Insurance until her retirement.

Marie loved travelling. She travelled abroad extensively and also spent much of her time in Surf City, NJ. Above all else she treasured time with her family, especially her adoring grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her children, James B. Dougherty, Jr. of New York, NY, Anne Marie Wright and her husband, Donald, of Doylestown, Joseph A. Dougherty and his wife, Elizabeth, of Villanova, and Francis G. Dougherty and his wife, Deborah, of New Britain. She also leaves behind her five beloved grandchildren, Francis, Jr., Anthony, Nina, Fitz, and Jack and her brothers, Rev. Joseph A. Fitzmyer, S.J. and Robert J. Fitzmyer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Florence Griffin, and her former husband, James B. Dougherty.

Services and interment were held privately.

Rita Therese Schmitt (George)

Rita Therese (nee George) Schmitt of Bensalem, formerly of Newtown passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at her residence. She was 87.

Born in Pitcairn PA, Rita was the loving wife of the late Harry Joseph Schmitt for sixty years until his death in October 2014. She was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur D. and Catherine Boast George. She was preceded in death by her brothers Adam and Eugene, and her sisters Marian, Ruth and Alice.

Dearest mother of Claudia Hensel (Kevin), Michael H. Schmitt (Mary Ann), Gregory Schmitt (Reggie), sister of Edgar George, she is also survived by six cherished grandchildren, Patrick, Matthew, Jennifer, Connor, Aidan, and Alana.

Rita was a longtime resident of Bucks County and a dedicated teacher and administrator for the Bensalem School District. Before moving to Bensalem, Rita taught at various schools in Western PA. After retirement, she taught Latin at Council Rock High School part-time. She received her Bachelor’s Degree, and was valedictorian, at Seton Hill College in Greensburg. She later earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Doctorate from Temple University.

Rita always enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, as well as fine dining and the arts. After her retirement in 1993, she concentrated on mentoring her grandchildren and traveling the world with Joe, visiting every continent except Antarctica. Although they hosted many social events for their family and friends over the years, their favorite annual event was gathering the family for an elegant Christmas dinner. Perhaps Rita’s most loving and lasting gifts are the many photo albums, sonnets, journals, pearls of wisdom and other writings she created documenting family events and her travels.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road) Richboro and on Thursday at the Church of Saint Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass 11:00am. Interment will be private at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made in her memory to the Franciscan Friars Retirement Fund, Saint Francis Friary at Mount Assisi, Loretto, PA 15940.

Josephine F. Neary (Farina)

April 29th, 2015

Josephine F. Neary, 90, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 29th after a brief illness. Josephine was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was born and lived most of her life in the Hartford CT area until she recently relocated to Langhorne, PA to live near her daughter and son in-law. She graduated from Bulkeley High School in Hartford. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years, initially for Pratt and Whitney and later for H. R. Delasco.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Lucia (Lucy) Farina, two sisters, Mary Cifalu and Anna Budaj, and four brothers, Carmelo, Joseph, Paul, and Michael Farina. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Francis C. Neary, son Francis Jr. (wife Alice), daughter Luanne Socha (husband Richard), and son Andrew (wife Anne). Josephine was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Elizabeth Yavenditti, Kevin Neary, Michael Socha, Andrea Quinn, Matthew Neary, and Brendan Neary, and six great grandchildren, Anna Katherine and William Yavenditti, Nathan and Max Quinn, Desmond Sullivan Neary, and Amelia Socha. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing, Tuesday, May 5th,from 9:30am until her Funeral Service at 10:00am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Richboro-Newtown Rd. (at Holland Rd.) , Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.

Vera Hutton (Gualberti)

April 29th, 2015

Vera Hutton of Warrington, PA died on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia. She was 83.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph (Jack) Hutton.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Carmela Laurelli Gualberti.

Mrs. Hutton was a resident of Warrington for the past 7 years and formerly lived in Warminster for 40 years. She began her working career as an administrative assistant for the Dean of Women at Temple University. It was there where she met her husband whom she married in l959. Together they volunteered and spent a lifetime of service and dedication to Temple University where they were very active in the Owl Club.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed golfing, taking trips to Hilton Head, SC and was an avid fan of Temple’s basketball and football teams.

She will be sadly missed as a loving mother and grandmother who always enjoyed the special times spent with her family.

She is survived by her two children, Ellen Hutton and her husband, Fernando Mendez, of Philadelphia and Gary Hutton and his wife, Christine, of Southampton, PA. She is also survived by her two loving grandsons, Evan and Miles Hutton.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Mass 11:30 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Second Street Pike at Knowles Avenue, Southampton, PA 18966. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville.

Duane E. Malone, Jr.

April 29th, 2015

Duane E. Malone, Jr., of Wrightstown, passed away suddenly on Wednesday April 29, 2015 . He was 32.

He is survived by his mother Linda A. Ebert Cleary and her husband, Matthew J. Cleary, Sr. and his father Duane E. Malone, Sr. and his wife and children.

Duane was a graduate of Council Rock High School North. He enjoyed wrestling, fishing, and baseball and also playing pool and watching movies. By far the class clown, he especially loved to make people laugh. His smile and laughter was contagious and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.  

In addition to his parents, Duane is survived by his sisters, Amanda Lynne Malone and Ashley Justine Cleary and his brother Matthew John Cleary. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

Kenneth D. Strenger

April 28th, 2015

Kenneth D. Strenger of Churchville died suddenly of an apparent heart attack on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Aria Hospital Torresdale. He was 52 years old.

Born in Philadelphia, Ken was the beloved husband of Nancy Gallagher Strenger for the past 22 years. He was the son of the late Letitia Wilson Strenger.

Ken was a graduate of William Tennent High School, Warminster, and class of 1980. He later graduated from Temple University earning his degree in Finance. He spent three years as a Senior Accountant at Matrix Development Group and nine years as the Chief Financial Officer at CD Realty.

Ken has been a resident of Churchville for the past 21 years. He has been a faithful and active member of the North and Southampton Reformed Church in Churchville.

Ken loved to read the classics. He was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast, who looked forward to watching the Eagles and the Phillies. He enjoyed going to the shore whether fishing, swimming or sitting on the beach. But most of all, he loved time spent with family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his loving daughter Lauren D. Strenger, his 3 brothers and their wives Keith Strenger and his wife Joanne, Kevin Strenger and his wife Martha, Kurt Strenger and his wife Jill.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Saturday May 2, from 1:00 pm until his Funeral Service 2:30 pm at the North and Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Rd. Churchville. Interment will follow in Churchville Cemetery.

Kathleen M. Ruane (McCormack)

Kathleen M. (nee McCormack) Ruane, of Pine Valley section of Philadelphia, died on April 25, 2015. She was formerly of Brewerytown and Lawncrest. Kathleen was a retired employee of Benjamin Franklin Elementary School. and longtime member of Women’s Club of Lawncrest.

Kathleen was the beloved wife of the late James M. Ruane Sr. and devoted mother of Joellyn Ruane, Jay Ruane (Margaret), Janine Weiler (Frederick) and Margaret-Mary Morrissy (Keith). She was the dear sister of the late James McCormack (Elizabeth) and loving grandmother of Jimmy (Brittany), Brittany (Todd), Matthew (Kristin), Patrick, Joe, Tim, Kevin, Katelyn, Ryan and great grandmother of Easton and Sydney. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet her family on Thursday from 8:15 to 10:15 AM followed by her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM at the Church of Saint William, 6200 N. Rising Sun Ave., Phila., PA 19111. Int. Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham.

Josephine T. Lesniak

Josephine T. Lesniak of Trevose died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Abington Hospice at Warminster. She was 92.

Josephine was the beloved wife to the late George Lesniak who was the love of her life for 48 years,

Born in Kaska, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Kordish Lescosky and was predeceased by her 7 brothers and sisters.

Josephine was a resident of Trevose for 62 years. She was a graduate of Blyth County High School and had worked as a glass engraver with Princo Corporation for many years. Josephine was a devoted communicant of Assumption B.V.M. Church in Feasterville and was a member of the parish Senior Club and Fabulous 55’s. In either good seasons or bad, Josephine was an enthusiastic and dedicated Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Her voice and presence will be deeply missed by all who came to know her.

Josephine is survived by her two buddies, Brandon and Collin Cimino, her caregiver and niece, Joy Cimino of Trevose along with many nephews, nieces and friends.

Patrick J. Murphy

April 24th, 2015

Patrick Joseph Murphy of Dublin passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2015 at his home.  He was 38 years old. 

Born in Meadowbrook he was a son of Joseph G. Murphy (Mary) of Chalfont and Donna Hogan Galbraith (Brian) of Dublin and the adoring and devoted father of Devon James, Ella Rae, and Kai Seku Murphy. 

Patrick attended Central Bucks West High School and later earned his Bachelor’s degree in African Studies from the University of Minnesota.  He then went on to study Law at Hamline University School of Law in Minnesota and had recently been awarded his Juris Doctor degree.  

Patrick was an avid lover of all sports, and was especially devoted to Philadelphia teams and coached basketball for the Doylestown Athletic Association.  He was also immensely proud of his journey through recovery and touched the lives of all around him with his story.

Above all else, Patrick will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, son, brother and friend to all who knew and loved him.  He will be dearly missed. 

In addition to his children and his parents and their spouses, Patrick is survived by his brothers, Shawn and Kevin Galbraith and his sisters, Tarah Cooke (Thomas) and Kathryn Galbraith.  He also leaves behind his paternal grandmother, Frances Murphy; his niece, Quinn Cooke; his nephew, Caleb Galbraith; and countless other relatives and friends. 

All who knew and loved Patrick are invited to his viewing on Wednesday April 29, 2015 from 9:00 AM until his Funeral Service 12:00 Noon at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, Inc., 241 E. Butler Ave., (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901.  His interment will be held privately.
