Thomas Anthony “Turk” Shields of Richboro passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 11, 2015.  He was 52. 

Tom was the beloved husband of 14 years to Susanne McGovern.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the eldest son of Berenice McCulliss Shields of Philadelphia and the late Thomas A. Shields.

In addition to his wife and his mother, Tom is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Shields (Ben Hibbs), Maura, Kerri, and Rianna Shields; his granddaughter, Emmy Hibbs; and his siblings, Judy Leighton (Jack) of Huntingdon Valley, Andy Shields (Cathy) of Harleysville, Ed Shields (Rebecca) of Chalfont, Jean Sitler (Bob) of Chalfont, Bernie Shields (Elena) of Ivyland and Marty Shields (Kate) of Fort Washington. He also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly.

Tom was a proud graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School (Class of 1980) and Moravian College (Class of 1984). While at both Ryan and Moravian, Tom was a passionate and disciplined member of their respective soccer teams, performing as a goaltender. He passionately followed his love for soccer beyond his own playing days, offering his services as a coach and referee. In addition to coaching multiple teams of various ages and expertise, Turk was a dedicated member of the Eastern PA & District Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association for more than three decades. During his time as a coach and a referee, he shared not only his skill and knowledge of the game, but also instilled the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and determination as equally important components of being a successful member of a team. Whether coaching a five-year-old girl or 21-year-old man, Tom demanded tough but fair play taught the importance of endurance and inspired those under his guidance to push further than they ever thought they could.

His integrity carried into his professional life. Tom was a member of IBEW Local 98 for more than 25 years, proudly spending the end of his career as a superintendent at Sunlight Electrical Contracting Company.

In his down time, Tom enjoyed life’s simple pleasures with the loves of his life -- his wife, daughters and granddaughter. Whether putting his feet in the sand on the beaches of Wildwood; taking a morning walk with his faithful four-legged companion, Billy; spending time in the kitchen cooking; or watching boxing while enjoying chicken wings and a cold Budweiser, Tom seemed to know that the secret to a happy life is much simpler than the rest of the world seems to make it. His family is so grateful for having him as teacher and leader, showing every day that respect, happiness, love and family are the core of a life well-lived. Every moment spent with him was truly a moment worthwhile; the only thing anybody could have asked for was more time.

Marie L. Cole of Doylestown, PA was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Pine Run Health Center. She was 84.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Cole.

Born in Doylestown, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Hall Lowande and was predeceased by her 9 brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Cole was raised in Doylestown and eventually moved to Jenkintown where she lived for more than 20 years. She moved back to Doylestown last year where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law and their family. Mrs. Cole was a hairdresser her entire life and ran her own business in Jenkintown, Marie’s Hairstyling. She was a long time member of Addisville Reformed Church in Richboro. In her leisure time, she loved gardening and baking. She was well known for providing her delicious cakes to family, friends and area charities. Her chocolate cake was everyone’s favorite. Mrs. Cole also spent many years volunteering in the beauty salon at Grand View Hospital. She loved ministering to the patients and did her best to comfort them. Her most special times were spent when she was surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandsons. She will be sadly missed as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Marie Damm and her husband, Michael, of Doylestown, her two grandchildren; Adrienne Rainey and her husband, Justin, and Michael Damm, and two great grandchildren; Cyrus and Roscoe Rainey.

Dorothy A. Clark, of Holland, died peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Holy Redeemer Hospice, Meadowbrook.

She was the beloved wife of the late William Clark.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Emily Volk Dwyer, mother of the late Barbara Ward and sister of the late Jack Dwyer.

Dorothy grew up in Philadelphia and was a graduate of Little Flower High School. She was a communicant of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland for over 30 years. She enjoyed square dancing, traveling with her husband in their Airstream, and she was bridge player for over 40 years.

She is survived by her loving and supportive children: Rich Clark, Robert E. Clark and his wife Patricia, Wm. Scott Clark, and her son in law Tim Ward, her sisters Emily Bauder, and Joan Gibson, her brothers Edward Dwyer and his wife Pat, and Bob Dwyer and Barbara Dwyer. She is also survived by her 8 cherished grandchildren: Lauren, Breanne, Caitlin, Timothy, Sean, Patrick, Ryan and Shane, and her 3 great grandchildren: Avery, Ryan, and Charlotte.

Malvin L. Stern, of Lansdale, PA, died suddenly on Sunday, July 5, 2015.

A beloved husband, father and grandfather, was wed to his wife Karen (Olsen) for 27 years. The late son of Arthur and Pauline (Wolinsky) Stern, was born in the Bronx, New York in 1945.

He is survived by his loving wife and children; Kamrn Stern of Roanoke, VA, Karrie Hodges of Woodstock, IL, Kelly Mulligan of Dumfries, VA, Karly Stern of Dallas, TX, and his brother Fred Stern of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren; Conner, James, Savannah, Lauren, Kordell and Katelyn.

He was an accomplished distance runner, setting records that stood for years at Queens College. Through hard work and determination, he achieved his dream and earned a Ph.D. in Immunology/Microbiology. As part of an academic research team, he made significant contributions to the scientific community, having his work published in nationally recognized journals.

His love and generosity to family will always be remembered.

Raymond F. Sohn, of Churchville, PA died on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at his home after a long illness with cancer.  He was 83.

He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Evelyn Savage Sohn.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Ray worked at the Budd Company in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia for over 30 years. He moved to Churchville in 1986 and has been an active parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter, Joyce McGettigan of Churchville and his son Steve Sohn and his wife Tracy of Levittown. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; Jason, Christy, Ray (Marisa), Brian, Carolyn, Vanessa (Marco), and Elaine; and his 7 great-grandchildren.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 10:30am until his Funeral Mass 11:30AM in the Chapel of St. Louise de Marillac at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954.  His interment will be held privately.

Jane Marie (Deni) Smith of Warrington, PA died peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2015, at Neshaminy Manor in Warrington. She was 79. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas Allen Smith III. Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Edna Powell Deni.

Jane was a resident of Warrington for the past 10 months and formerly lived in Upper Southampton Township and prior to that Northampton Township. She retired from the Northampton Township Zoning Department. Jane grew up in the Northeast of Philadelphia and graduated from Lincoln High School. Jane’s activities included Rebecca Circle, Round Club and Sorority.

Jane is survived by her four children and their spouses, Wendy L. Hartman and her husband, Kevin, of Quakertown PA, Thomas A. Smith IV and his wife, Jeanette, of Howell, NJ, Denise M. Donlon and her husband, James, of Upper Southampton, PA, and Stephen L. Smith and his wife, Kim, of Jeffersonton, VA. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren; Heather, Samantha, Joshua, Amber, Thomas, Krista, Alexa, William, Brett, Katlyn, Joseph & Gabrielle; and her 6 great grandchildren.

Theresa Semenuk, 86, of Newtown, PA, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland passed away peacefully at Chandler Hall Hospice on July 2, 2015. She was a woman of great resilience, surviving many medical illnesses and conditions, including breast and ovarian cancer.

Born February 23, 1929 to Vincent and Stella Zalewski in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the youngest of eight children. Theresa was a graduate of Sparrows Point High School in Sparrows Point, Maryland and was married to the late Michael Joseph Semenuk, the love of her life. Theresa and her husband raised three children, the late Sharon Ann Semenuk Booher, Michael D. Semenuk (Lynn Semenuk), and Tess Semenuk Glancey (Brian Glancey). Her greatest joy was her family.

She worked for many years for the City of Baltimore before joining her husband in running their business, Lenderking Metal Products.

After her husband passed, she moved to Newtown under the care of her daughter Tess and family, where she resided for nearly 15 years. She loved travel, real estate, hot fries, sweets, and Coca Cola. She was a no-nonsense woman, who told it like it was. She will be remembered for her generous heart and spirit.

Theresa served as a volunteer at St. Mary Medical Center for many years. She was also an avid reader, often reading a book per day. She passed her love of reading on to her children and many of her grandchildren.

Theresa is survived by her son Michael D. Semenuk (Lynn Semenuk), her devoted daughter Tess Semenuk Glancey (Brian Glancey), and grandchildren Michael Booher, Michael John Semenuk, Nicholas Semenuk, Alexis Booher Allen, Tessica Glancey, Tara Glancey, Lindsay Semenuk, and Erica Glancey. Great-grandchildren include Davin Allen, Sutter Allen, and Michael Gabriel Semenuk.

Services will be held in Baltimore on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Sacred Heart of Mary Church on 6736 Youngstown Avenue in Baltimore. Relatives and friends are welcome to pay their condolences at 9:00 A.M. Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery located at 7501 German Hill Road in Dundalk, Maryland.

Dolores S. Hojlo (nee Oskiera) of Warminster, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.  She was 85 years old. Dolores was the beloved wife of Walter Hojlo.  The two would have celebrated 57 years of marriage in September.

Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Ann Purul Oskiera.

Dolores graduated from Little Flower High School. She later met and married her beloved husband, Walter. Together they had five children and moved to Warminster, PA in 1967 where they became parishioners of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church.

Dolores loved nurturing her family, relatives and her children’s friends as they grew older. She loved entertaining, cooking and especially family picnics by the pool with all of her precious nieces & nephews which she loved dearly.

She enjoyed attending family weddings & parties along with listening to Irv Homer and playing the oldies on 98.1 WOGL. She also cherished yearly vacations down the Jersey Shore where she spent time with family.

In addition to her husband, Dolores is survived by her five children, Dan Hojlo and his wife, Mary, of Warrington, Marianne Katz and her husband, Steve, of Chalfont, Karen Berry and her husband, Scott, of Lansdale, Linda Colibraro and her husband, Frank of Chalfont, and Lisa Williams and her husband, Tony, of Dresher.

She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Christian, Marissa, Jessica, Victoria, Taylor, Eric, Courtney, Brendan, Julia, Allyson, Morgan, Nicholas, and Brooke and her surviving siblings, Jennie, Clara, Eleanor, and Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters Mamie and Helen along with her two brothers Michael and Walter, along with her sisters-in-law Leona Perkoski and Helen Rusling.

Edward F. Janiszewski, of Southampton, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia. He was 60.

He was the beloved husband of JoAnne Knoneborg Janiszewski.

Born in Philadelphia, Ed was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Miller Janiszewski and the brother of the late Elizabeth Taylor Janiszewski.

Ed was employed with Mission Hill Associates as a HVAC Technician Supervisor and was affectionately known as “The Boss Man”. When Ed and his wife joined together in a love that would never tire, he also earned a best friend for life who would eventually become his brother-in-law. Ed and Markie Knoneborg formed a tight bond as friends right from the beginning of his relationship with Markie’s sister JoAnne. He immediately took Markie under his wing and taught him everything he knew professionally as a HVAC Technician and also as an everyday Mr. Fix-It.

Ed was a man with a big heart who was willing to do anything for anybody at anytime. Upon the death of a childhood friend, Ed filled in as a father figure for the Nagel Children, he held in great esteem the accomplishments of his three daughters and always without question he was grateful for the love and devotion of his wife. In his leisure he enjoyed times spent at the racetrack with friends and also playing Black Jack at the Casino and traveling with his family. Above all in life, Ed’s family came before everything and he cherished the moments he had creating memories with his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. Ed will be greatly missed but always remembered and loved by everyone who has come to know and love him.

In addition to his wife JoAnne, Ed is survived by his 3 loving and devoted daughters; Melinda Attipa and her husband Michael, Joanna Janiszewski, and Jerica Janiszewski. He is also survived by his sisters; Linda McKenney and Maryann Mcpherson, his brothers; Jack and Dennis Janiszewski, the Nagel children, and his 10 adoring grandchildren.

Patricia Karl, of Newtown, died on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at her home. She was 75.

She was the beloved wife of the late William N. Karl Jr. who died in 1983.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the biological daughter of Edward and Edna May Keller Farrell and loving step daughter to the late Milton Young who raised her after the passing of her father.

Pat grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Dobbins High School where she was a member of the Color Guard and Volleyball teams. Soon after graduating and at the early age of 19, Patricia married her beloved William. They lived in various sections of Philadelphia for many years before moving to Churchville in 1975 and then Newtown in 1983.

During her professional career, Pat used the secretarial skills she learned in High School in the Aviation field and then in Pharmaceuticals with Bristol-Myers Squibb in Hopewell, NJ where she retired from in 1993.

She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo with her group at the Church of St. Andrew, working with crafts and making special things for her family and friends, reading; especially murder mysteries, and never passed up a trip to Atlantic City so she could stop by the casino and play the slots. However, more than anything, she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, which included her special dog Bam Bam.

She is survived by her children Cheryl A. and Charlie McKenna of Warrington, William L. and Betsy Karl of Jamison, Lynn A. and Gary Sutton of Driggs, Idaho and Stephen M. and Lisa Karl of Yardley. She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren; Lindsay and Chris Laffey, Lauren and Matt McKinski, Billy Karl, Amberleigh and Anthony Volpe, Ashley McKenna, Dalton Karl and Ellie Karl.
