July 2nd, 2016
Marcella D. (McCloskey) O’Kane a long time resident of Richboro, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at her home. She was 75.
Marcella was the beloved wife of 54 years to Joseph M. O’Kane, Sr.
Born in West Philadelphia, a West Catholic grad, she was the daughter of the late Bernard “Mickey” and Matilda “Tilly” Smedley McCloskey.
Cella, as her husband whom she nicknamed ‘Mike’ on the night they met called her, was much more than a devoted mother and wife. She was the glue that bound her family and friends to her. She was a physical beauty with a personality that exceeded her good looks. Her friends were friends for life, Mary, Joan, Dot, Mattie, Till, Barbara, all her best friends as a young girl were still her closest friends at her passing. Her best friend Nancy felt as though they were joined at the hip. Her children’s friends saw her as their surrogate mother, never afraid to bring their problems and questions to her for help. The O’Kane’s seldom ate dinner without a couple of the children’s friends at the table, and on vacations there were always a couple of spare kids along. She was fierce in her protection of her family and seeing the right thing done or denouncing a wrong. Cella was class pure and simple, she unabashedly loved family, home, Bucks County, and her country, and her Irish heritage
In addition to her husband, Marcella is survived by her children, Joseph M. O’Kane, Jr., Marcella Matilda McDonald, Bridgett O’Kane Rouse and her husband, Dr. Keith A. Rouse, and Dawn O’Kane Sulmasy and her husband, Warren Sulmasy. She also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren, Erin Shawn O’Kane, William Todd McDonald, Jr., Keith Aaron Rouse, Jr., Joseph C. Rouse, McCaillaigh B. Rouse, Kendall M. Sulmasy, and Siena M. Sulmasy; her brothers, Joseph McCloskey and Richard T. McCloskey and his wife, Carol and many nieces and nephews.

Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd., Richboro, PA and to her Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18966.
