Joseph W. Zimmerman, of Harleysville, PA died on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. He was 82.
He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Genevieve Yodesky Zimmerman.
Born and raised in Glenside, he was the son of the late Harry and late Anna Clark Zimmerman.
Joe grew up in Glenside and after graduating from Abington High School began working and soon after that he met his beloved Genevieve. They married in 1956 and five months later, like many men during that era, was drafted and entered the US Army. He proudly served his country and was stationed in Ft. Gordon, Georgia. After his honorable discharge, they returned to Pennsylvania in 1959. Upon returning Joe began his career in construction industry and joined the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542. Joe had many passions and he was blessed to have the talent and energy to back it up. It didn’t matter if it was golf, fishing, bowling, racing dirt track cars, gardening or cooking, if he was going to do it, he would give nothing less than 110%. If he set his mind to it, nothing would stop him from reaching the highest level. He was a great example to many and will lovingly be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, teacher, leader, teammate and friend.
